Harry Lee GRUMBLEY, 57, of 321 N. Plum st., died in the Clark County Sanatorium at 1 a.m. Sunday. A tailor by trade, Mr. GRUMBLEY had at one time operated a dry cleaning establishment in Springfield. He was a native of Columbus, where he was born April 11, 1892. Mr. GRUMBLEY was a member of St. Raphael Church. His son, Leo, is owner of the Grumbley's Dry Cleaners at 439 W. Main St. Surviving are the wido, Roxie; his mother, Mrs. Emma GRUMBLEY of Springfield; five daughters, Mrs Mary WHITE, Mrs. Vivian MONROE, Mrs. Bonnie PHLAEGER, Mrs. Margaret JOHNSON and Miss Teresa GRUMBLEY, all of Springfield; two brothrs, Charles of Paris, Ill. and George of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mary GRAM, Dayton, and Mrs. Marcella GRIFFIN, Springfield; 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Raphael Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home from Monday evening until time of funeral services.

Robert E. McINTIRE 41, 0f 320 1/2 Franklin st., a salesman for the Peters Appliance Shop died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday in his residence following an illness of five months. Mr. McINTIRE at one time had been employed by the Springfield News in the distribution department. Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie; two sons, Michael Edward and Robert E.Jr.; a daughter, Sandra LEE; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles E., and three brothers, Charles A., Clarence W., and Lawrence L., all of Springfield. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in charge of the Rev. A. L. Anderson, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Ferncliff.

Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Clark County Coroner Austin Richards ruled Tuesday night the infant's death was primarily due to gastro-enteritis-inflammation of the stomach and bowel. He attributed the secondary cause of death to bronchial pneumonia. The mother asked police aid in securing medical assistance when the child began choking at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday but the infant was dead before police arrived

Farmer, 80, Gored To Death On Way To Chores. An 80 year-old farmer, Joseph CAVE of South Vienna, Route 1, was gored to death by a bull Tuesday as he was on his way to evening chores. His farm is one the Houston rd. near the Old Columbus rd. Miss Anna CAVE, a daughter who lived with him, said she heard Mr. CAVE yell for help from the barnyard. She went to the door of the house, and her cries scared the bull away. Her screams then attracted neighbors living a short distance away, and they carried Mr. CAVE out of the barnyard. They thought he was still living, and a call was put in for Lukens ambulance in London, O. When the ambulance arrived, however, Mr. CAVE had died. The goring occurred about 5:15 p.m. Mr. CAVE suffered a crushed chest, and several cuts on the body from the bull's horns. Although there were no eyewitnesses, apparently Mr. CAVE was thrown up into the air by the bull. One cut was between the legs. The barnyard is about 75 feet away from the house. Mrs. CAVE was born in Pike County, April5, 1869, the son of James and Johanna HAUBOLDT CAVE. His wife, Elizabeth POTTS CAVE, died April 12, 1935. Besides the daughter at home, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Blanche YEAZELL, South Vienna, Route 1: one son, Boisle CAVE, also of Route 1; one grandson, William CAVE, Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Anna HAYES, Mechanicsburg, and two great-grandchildren. The body was taken to Littleton funeral home and will be removed to the residence Thursday morning, remaining there until Friday morning before being returned to the funeral home for services at 2 p.m. Friday, the Rev. W. S. Alexander, pastor of the South Vienna Congregational Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary M. Hornberger, 78 died at 12:05 a.m. Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Zugelder of 1009 Lagonda Av. A resident of Springfield for many years, she was born in Germany in 1871, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Spang. She was the widow of Martin Hornberger who died in 1923. A member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, she belonged to the Ladies Sodality and the Legion of Mary at the church. Surviving are the one daughter, three sons, Martin and Robert Hornberger of Springfield and Henry Hornberger of Jamestown; 18 grand children; 23 great grand children and number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Degenhart-Conroy funeral home and will be removed to the residence at 1009 Lagonda av. At 3 p.m. Saturday after which friends may call. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard Catholic Church and burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Mrs. Mamie COST, 80 who lived at Mercycrest, died there at 6 a.m. Thursday. Born in New Carlisle, Nov. 10, 1868, Mrs. COST had lived at 1138 N. Plum st. prior to taking up residence at Mercerst. Surviving are two sons, Ross and John R. COST, both of Dayton; two daughters, Mrs. Nora HOLCOMB of Oxborn and Mrs. Fern SINDLE of Springfield; a brother, Bert SMALL of Los Angeles, Calif; a sister, Mrs. Pearl MCKINLEY of Casstown, and one granddaughter, Mrs. Evelyn HARRISON of Springfeild. The body was taken to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home.

Josephine WREN, Widow of Store Founder, Dies. Funeral services for Mrs. Edward WREN, widow of the founder of the Edward WREN Store, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. She died in that metropolis Sunday. Wren MALONE, 5 W. Ward st., who received word of Mrs. WREN's death, said he thought she was about 77 years old. Mrs. WREN left Springfield about 1925, and had traveled widely, establishing residence at several places. She had lived in Washington, D. C., London, England, and in Ottawa, Canada. She had been ill for the past 10 days at the New Weston Hotel in New York, where she had maintained an apartment for a number of years. Friends said she had recently decided against a planned trip to England, and Mr. MALONE stated that she had planned to go to Ottawa, Canada, to live. Death was attributed to coronary thrombosis. Although she had been ailing, relatives said that her condition had not been considered serious. Her husband, who died in October, 1917, founded the local department store still bearing his name. The business was sold by the Wren family about 1920. Mrs. WREN whose given name was Josephine, was born in Ireland. Her daughter, Mrs. Brendan QUINN of London, England, was believed to be en route to New York by plane after learning of her mother's illness. She was the former Miss Angela WREN. Also surviving is a son, Malcolm WREN who lives at the New Weston Hotel, and Mrs. J. B. HICKEY, a sister-in-law, of Springfield.

Former Resident of Springfield is Fire Victim. Mrs. George HARSHMAN, former Springfield resident, died in the disastrous fire which swept the cruise steamer Noronic at Toronto, according to work received Sunday by Mrs. James DILLARD, 3116 W. Main st., sister of Mr. HARSHMAN. Both Mr. and Mrs. HARSHMAN, who left their Cincinnati residence last Wednesday for a vacation trip through Canada, were passengers on the Noronic. Mr. HARSHAMN, son of Mrs. May HARSHMAN of 4 Harshman blvd., escaped from the burning craft and was admitted to St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, for treatment of burns on the face and hands. It is expected he will remain in the hospital three weeks. Word of the death of Mrs. HARSHMAN as sent to Mrs. DILLARD by her husband and her son, Jonathan H. HOLLARD of 402 ½ S. Western av., who left Springfield Saturday afternoon for Toronto to attempt to locate Mrs. HARSHMAN. Her death also was reported in press dispatches Sunday. The body was badly burned and identification was established by a wedding ring the dead woman was wearing. It is expected the body will be removed to Fort Thomas, Ky., for funeral and burial. Mrs. HARSHMAN, the former Betsy SOUTHGATE, was a prominent Cincinnati clubwoman and member of a prominent northern Kentucky family. A native of Fort Thomas, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifford SOUTHGATE of Fort Thomas. Her only survivors are her husband, her grandmother, Mrs. Harry SOUTHGATE, and an aunt, Mrs. Corey DREXELIUS, both of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. HARSHMAN made their home in Springfield for a number of years after their marriage. Mr. Harshman is an appraisal interviewer for the Cincinnati division of the Veterans Administration.

Mrs. Goldie L. TOBIN, 60, of 609 Clifton av., died at 12:01 a. m. Saturday in City Hospital, where she was admitted Sept. 14. She was born May 18, 1889. She is survived by a son, William PIATT, five grandchildren, and a sister Mrs. Lena MAYHUGH, of Springfield. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Littleton funeral home with burial in the Enon Cemetery.

Thomas JOHNS, 81, died in the Knights of Pythias Home at 5 a.m. Saturday following an illness of several years. Born in Franklin County, July 19, 1868, Mr. JOHNS formerly was employed by the Goodrich Rubber Co. in Akron. He was a member of the Knights of Pythiasfor 55 years and was associated with the Aetolia Lodge No. 24, K. of P., in Akron. Mr. JOHNS was admitted to the local K. of P. Home from Cuyahoga Falls, O. There are no living survivors. The body was taken to Richards Memorial Home. Funeral Services will be held at the K. of P. Home at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Akron.

Word of the death Wednesday of Homer E. BEAVER, 49, a former Springfield resident, in his home in Gallipolis, Ohio, was received here Friday. Mr. BEAVER was a resident of Springfield for two years, leaving the city eight years ago. He also was a patient in Springfield City Hospital for three months earlier this year. Surviving besides the daughter with whom she resided are a son, Earl, St. Paris; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Earl JENKINS, New Carlisle, and Mrs. Iva GEORGE, Dayton. For many years until poor health caused his retirement a year ago, Mr. JONES was a foreman in the County Highway Department. Surviving are a son, Wallace N. JONES of Melrose Park, Illinois; two daughters, Miss Mary M. JONES of San Gabriel, Calif., and Mrs. Eloise COCHRUN of South Vienna; two brothers, Clark E. JONES of South Vienna and Burr G. VARLEY of St. Raphael Church and head of this deanery, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred heart Church, Dayton. Monsignor VARLEY will officiate at a Solemn Requiem Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. Mrs. VARLEY died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. She had been in failing health for several years. A life-long resident of Dayton, Mrs. VARLEY had lived at The Loretto for some years, and entered the hospital in June. She was the widow of William B. VARLEY. Mrs. VARLEY was born in Dayton on May 31, 1861. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where her son was pastor for 17 years before coming to Springfield. The body was taken to the Harris funeral home at Dayton. Monsignor VARLEY is the only survivor.

Mrs. Katherine B. GEHRET, 79, of 1655 North Limestone Street, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the City Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. GEHRET, who only recently had made her home in Springfield, had suffered a broken hip in a fall in her home Friday. Born near Dublin, Ohio, in Franklin County, November 13, 1869, Mrs. GEHRET was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah J. WILLIAMS. She was the widow of Joel B. GEHRET whom she married on March 31, 1890. Mrs. GEHRET came to Springfield a week ago from Marion, Indiana. Prior to that, she had lived in Springfield, Illinois, for more than 25 years. She also had been a resident of Minnesota for several years. She was a charter member of Garrett Chapter, order of the Eastern Star of Loami, Illinois, a member of the First Methodist Church of Springfield, Illinois and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America of Loami. Surviving Mrs. GEHRET are an adopted daughter, Gladys GEHRET, with whom she made her home; one brother, Francis M. WILIAMS of Bedford, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews, including Ben E. WILLIAMS, city editor of The Sun. The body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home for services at 1 p.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. Benjamin L. Duval, pastor of Central Methodist Church. Burial will be at Dublin.

DONNELSVILLE - Mrs. Mary Ellen ANDREW PADEN, who celebrated her 84th birthday anniversary Saturday, died at 11:35 p.m. Sunday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lester PICKERING of Donnelsville, where she resided. A life-long resident of Clark County, Mrs. PADEN had been in failing health the last 10 years. Death followed an eight-week illness. She was born in 1865 and was the daughter of Ezra and Barbara ZIRCLE. She was a member of the Donnelsville Methodist Church, New Carlisle Chapter 423, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Besides Mrs. PICKERING, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Mabel HARWOOD of Springfield; a son, J. Q. ANDREW of New Carlisle, Route 3; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home in Springfield and will be returned to the residence Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Donnelsville Methodist Church in charge of the Rev. Raymond Konkright, pastor. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Tulley L. DRAKE 64, of St Paris farmer and stock dealer, died at 5:15 a.m., Thursday in Memorial Hospital, Piqua, where he had been a patient since last Monday. He was born Sept 19, 1885 the son of William J and Katherine WINDER DRAKE. He was united in marriage to Amelia GROUP December 15, 1907. He attended school at Honey Creek and was a member of the Lower Honey Creek Church. He had resided in Champaign County for 40 years. Surviving in addition to the widow is a sister Mrs. Claude MILLER of Christiansburg.

Euclid av., where she was living. A resident of Springfield for the last 25 years, Mrs. MARTIN was a member of the Central Methodist Church and the Norris Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was born in Troy, O., on Jan. 22, 1871, the daughter of James and Margaret NESBITT. The last of 13 children, Mrs. MARTIN is survived by two daughters, Mrs. BRIGHT and Mrs. A.L. HILLARD of Fletcher, O.; two sons, George H. KIRK of Casstown, O., and Ralph V. KIRK of Miami Springs, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home.

A former resident of Springfield, Mrs. Grace JUNG, 52, died Saturday in a hospital at San Jose, California. She left Springfield three years ago, after residing here about 15 years. Mrs. JUNG was the mother of Mrs. A. CATANAZARO of Springfield. Other survivors include her husband, John, several brothers and sisters, a grandson and a granddaughter. The body is to arrive at Columbus, Wednesday and will be taken to the Schlecty Funeral Home at London. Funeral services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at London.

John NICKLAS, 70, brother of Oliver S. NICKLAS, manager of the State Theater, died at 4 a.m. Sunday in City Hospital following an illness of six weeks. He had been in failing health the last six months. A life-long resident of Springfield, Mr. NICKLAS was employed as a machinist at the Buffalo-Springfield Roller Co., Inc., for 35 years. He retired about five years ago. Mr. NICKLAS who resided at 102 Floral av., was born February 17, 1879, the son of Adam and Elizabeth HOTZ NICKLAS. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Springfield. Surviving besides his brother are a sister, Mrs. George COOK of Springfield; another brother, Henry A., also of Springfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. A. L. Anderson, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Jane WILDASINN, 75, of Dayton, O., died last night at 8:30 o'clock in King's Daughters hospital where she had been confined the past month after a fall in which she suffered a hip fracture. Mrs. WILDASINN came to Madison 10 months ago for an extended visit with her daughter, Mrs. Mary W. SMITH, of 118 West Third Street. She is also survived by a son, Clarence, of Dayton; a sister, Mrs. Laura HILLIARD, of Springfield, O., and seven grandchildren. Funeral for Samuel J. KISSELL 73 year old Clark Countian prominent in farm circles, will be at 2 pm Wednesday in the Jackson-Lytle funeral home in charge of the Rev. Frederick Mueller, pastor of the First Lutheran Church. Burial is to be in the Ferncliff Cemetery. Mr. KISSELL died at 11:40 pm Saturday in his home on Springfield, Route 5, Selma Pk., of a coronary condition which struck him last September. Born on a farm near Beatty, Feb. 4, 1876, he was the son of Silas G. and Adeline MCCLURE KISSELL. For many years he had been interested in the advancement of grain and dairy farming and at one time had an interest in the Kissell grain elevator at Selma. Mr KISSELL was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Springfield. Surviving besides the widow, Zella B., are a son, Robert G. of Springfield; three daughters, Mrs Ruth WEAVER at home, Mrs Frederick W. CARRES of Cuyahoga Falls and Mrs Earl A. F. N. Lothschuetz, Retired Postoffice Employe, Dies -- Funeral services for F. N. Lothschuetz, 73, of 907 Lagonda av., will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the St. Bernard Church, with burial in St. Bernard Cemetery. Mr. Lothschuetz, a native of Springfield and a former Postoffice employe for many years, died at 3:3 p.m. Sunday in his home. At the time of retirement from the Postoffice in April of 1943 Mr. Lothschuetz was a bookkeeper and from the standpoint of service was the oldest employe in the local branch. He began his postal career in 1894 when he was 17 years old and in 1935 was promoted from special clerk to bookkeeper. He was born March 16, 1877. In his lifetime Mr. Lothschuetz also had engaged in the insurance business, serving at various times with the Reliable Fire Insurance Co., of Dayton, the New York Casualty Co. and the Globe Republic Insurance Co. He was a charter member of Knights of Columbus, Council 624, of Springfield and in 1932 succeeded Charles P. Dunn as grand Knight of the council. Mr. Lothschuetz was a member of the Benevolent Society of St. Bernard Church and the Holy Name Society of the Church. For a time, too, he served as secretary of the Springfield Civil Service Commission. Surviving are the widow Matilda; four daughters, Mrs. Hugh A. Unum, Mrs. Joseph T. Bennett, Mrs. Jack A. Groeber and Mrs. Charles D. Titer, all of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. O.J. Kunk of Springfield, and seven grandchildren. The body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home and will be returned to the residence Tuesday afternoon. Knights of Columbus will meet in the Lothschuetz residence at 8 p.m. Wednesday for Rosary.

Rites Arranged for W. H. MAHONEY, Ex-City Manager
Funeral services for William H. MAHONEY, 71, of 567 Stanton av., a former city manager of Springfield and a life-long resident of this city, will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Raphael Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Mr. MAHONEY died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in a Dayton hospital where he had been a patient for about three months. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. MAHONEY served as Springfield's city manager for a 13-month period in 1923-24. His predecessor in the City Bldg. was E. E. PARSONS, who served as city manager from July, 1920, until January, 1923. Mr. PARSONS presently is city manager of San Fernando, Calif. When Mr. MAHONEY resigned the city position in February, 1924, he was succeeded by Robert E. FLACK, who held the managership of the city for five years. Mr. FLACK is now city manager of Durham N.C. Prior to his acceptance of the city manager's position, Mr. MAHONEY had served 17 years in various departments in the City Bldg. He was a clerk and treasurer of the city during that time. For eight years, the life-long Democrat was supervisor of claims in the Works Compensation, State Industrial Commission. He also had served as secretary of the Clark County Democratic Party in the early 1900's and was a member of the executive committee of the party. Mr. MAHONEY, a bachelor all his life, was born in Springfield, May 16, 1879, and received his education in the city. He attended St. Raphael School and was graduated from St. Raphael High School. He retired from politics and state and city life in 1939. William E. LUCAS, city engineer, who worked under Mr. MAHONEY, described the former city executives as "one of the most respected citizens of our time." He also said that Mr. MAHONEY was one of the city's and county's leading Democrats. Before his hospitalization, Mr. MAHONEY had resided at the home of his sister, Mrs. T. F. KENNEDY, 567 Stanton av. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 624, and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Raphael Church. Surviving are two brothers, David J., Springfield, and Dr. T. W., Michigan; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara CAST and Mrs. KENNEDY, both of Springfield. The body was removed to the O'Brien-Kennedy funeral home. Friends may visit the funeral home until time of services. Knights of Columbus services for Mr. MAHONEY will be conducted at 8:15 p.m. Monday.

Burial will be in Vale Cemetery. The body will be removed from the funeral home to the church an hour before time of services.

Survivors include three cousins, J. M. and Henry C. Pauly, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Val Weber, Cheviot, Cincinnati. Requiem mass is to be said Wednesday morning at Covington. Burial will be there.
