Emma CUNNINGHAM was born in Fairfield, Aug. 16, 1867. She is survived by a sister of Springfield and several grandchildren of Detroit, Mich. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home for services at 2 p.m., Wednesday, with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery. Additional Information: Maiden name is Emma E. BARR. Fred BRISTOW, 56, former resident of Sprinfield, died suddenly at his work Saturday morning, in Cincinnati. A native of Covington, Ky., Mr. BRISTOW had lived in Springfield for about 10 years. He had been a resident of Cincinnati since 1935. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bessie KELLER BRISTOW, formerly of Springfield. Funeral services will be held at the Allen Temple Church, Cincinnati, Wednesday morning.

Mrs. FOLEY, the widow of John P. FOLEY of Springfield, made her home here before going to Dayton two years ago to live with Mrs. GRIFFIN. Survivors are her daughter; two sons, J. William of Columbus, and Robert of Dayton; one sister, Mrs. C. C. STINE of Dayton; three grandsons, Cpl. Edward GRIFFIN, Jr., Pfc. Richard GRIFFIN, both in the U. S. Army in the Philippines, and John GRIFFIN of Dayton, and one great granddaughter, Angela GRIFFIN. The body was removed to the O'Brien funeral home. Requiem High Mass will be sun in St. Raphael Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday with burial in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Page 3. George H. WELCH, 57, of Route 3, Mechanicsburg pk, died suddenly at 2:30 p.m. Friday while on a fishing trip approximately four miles south of West Liberty on Mad River. Logan County Coroner Dr. C. E. Thompson said death was due to natural causes and probably was caused by a heart attack. Mr. WELCH was born near Blanchester Nov. 12, 1887, but had lived in Springfield and Clark County for the past 50 years. He was employed by the Stanley Machine and Tool Co. Survivors include the widow, Edith; a son, George of Springfield, his mother, Mrs. Clara ROBERTS of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Alice KILGORE, and a brother, Howard, both of Springfield. Two grandchildren also survive. The body was taken to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home.

Page 16. Illness of Two Hours is Fatal. Mrs Clarabelle WELLS, 27, wife of Roy A WELLS, of Pitchin, died at 1:45 pm Thursday in her residence, following a two-hour illness. Mrs WELLS had been doing the family washing, seemingly in usual healthy, only 35 minutes before her children returned from school and found her unconscious, her husband said. The cause of death has not been determined, pending an autopsy. Mrs WELLS was born in Springfield April 13, 1917, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Loren HIXON. Having moved away from this city when a child, she later returned to Clark County where she had resided for the past 10 years. Mrs WELLS was a member of the Daughters of America in Pitchin, Pitchin Grange and Pitchin Methodist Church. She was graduated from Waterloo High School in 1934 and Rio Grande College in 1936. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Myron and Merrill, twins, and Roy Wayne, all at home; her parents of Columbus, four brothers, Kenneth, George, and Davis, all of Columbus, and Sgt James serving in the Army. The body was removed to Richards Memorial Home and will be returned to the residence at noon Saturday. Funeral services will be at 1 pm Sunday in the Pitchin Methodist Church, with the Rev Raymon Konkright officiating. Burial will be in the Garlough Cemetery.

A native of Lilly Chapel, he was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Al BRADFIELD. He operated a grocery in George[?]ville for 21 years and has since resided in Columbus. He was a World War I veteran and a member of Camp Chase Post American Legion. He is survived by his widow, Idalia BRADFIELD and one sister, Mrs Gladys MADDEN of Springfield. Mrs. RILEY died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday in her residence after a two-week illness. Mrs. RILEY was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Woman's Town Club. Survivors include the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Ann JERVIS of Springfield; two brothers, Dr. J. P. The death of Cletus TOSSEY, 72, of Marysville Route 3, occurred at the home of his brother, D. F. TOSSEY at Springfield at 6:30 o'clock last night. He had been ill for the past five and one-half months suffering from a heart ailment. Born in Van Wert county, March 11, 1872, Mr. TOSSEY was the son of Zibe and Delia Ann BROWN TOSSEY. He was a retired schoolteacher, having taught for 35 years of which 34 were in Union County and one in Delaware county. He also served as a teacher examiner for ten years. He was married at Ashley in 1897 to Elsie SHAW, who survives. He was a member of the Pharisburg M. F. church. In addition to his wife, Mr. TOSSEY is survived by two sons, Gerald TOSSEY of Springfield and Cleland TOSSEY of near Ostrander; seven grandchildren; one brother, D. F. TOSSEY of Springfield and a sister, Mrs. Zella MICHAEL of Marysville. One brother, Marvin TOSSEY, is deceased. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the L. H. Miller funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery. A machinist by trade, he was employed for 30 years by the Mast Foos Co., and for the past five years by the Steel products Engineering Co. Funeral services for William Frank PERRIN, 90, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bertha WERST, 1204 S. Fountain av., where he died at 1:30 p.m Monday, following an illness of one week. Mr. PERRIN was born June 23, 1854, in Loganville. He had been a resident of this community for over 65 years. He was a member of the Central Methodist Church. Mr. PERRIN was an employe of the former Thomas Manufacturing Co. for 34 years, and following that he was employed by the Reed Manufacturing Co. for 17 years. He retired eight years ago. Jacob Geron, 68, widely known retired farmer of 823 S Main St, Urbana, died at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday in Springfield City Hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks suffering from heart disease. A native of Clark County, Mr Geron had spent most of his life in the Urbana community as a farmer, and had been a resident of Urbana for the last 23 years. He was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics and of the Urbana Lutheran Church. Surviving are his widow, Martha; a son, A Everett Geron of Springfield; a brother, Phillip Geron, Springfield; a sister, Mrs Samuel Karg of Springfield, Route 3, and one grandson. The body was removed to the Humphrey funeral home where it will remain for services at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev Edward Driscoll of the Urbana Lutheran Church officiating, Burial will be in Oak Dale Cemetery.

Mrs. BEARD was born in Miami County and had lived near Troy all of her life with the exception of the last two years which were spent in the home of the son in Springfield. She was the widow of Hiram BEARD, who died two years ago. In addition to her son, she is survived by four grandchildren. The body was removed to the Irvin funeral home in Troy for services at 10 a. m. Thursday. Burial will be in Riverside Ceme-tery, Troy.

Pg. 20. John T. CAMPBELL, 57, of Sugar Grove Hill, died at 5 p. m. Wednesday in the house in which he was born. Mr. CAMPBELL served 23 months in World War I with Heavy Artillery Battery D, Regiment 324. He saw action in France and Germany. He was a charter member of Iron Molders Union, Local 72, and a former employee of the Acme Pattern and Tool Co, Dayton. Mr. CAMPBELL was the son of the late John and Ellen CAMPBELL and was a member of St. Raphael Church holy Name Society. He is survived by two sisters, Misses Helen and Margaret, both of Springfield; three brothers, James, of Ft. Bragg, Calif., Joseph and Thomas of Springfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Degenhart funeral home, and taken to the residence Thursday afternoon. Funeral services for Oran Peter MITMAN, 73, who died at 10:15 p.m. Monday in his home, 723 Ardmore rd. following a four-day illness, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Littleton funeral home. The Rev. Carl Shanor, pastor of Fourth Lutheran Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Mr. MITMAN was a retired bank cashier, having worked in the Osborn Bank. While associated with the bank, he also engaged in farming. Mr. MITMAN was born February 20, 1872, in Greene County, the son of Lewis and Laura MITMAN. His grandfather, Peter MTIMAN, was a pioneer of Green County, having come from Pennsylvania in a covered wagon. Mr. MITMAN came to Springfield from Osborn 25 years ago. He was a member of Fourth Lutheran Church and was treasurer of its Sunday School for 15 years. He also was treasurer of Lutheran Oesterland Home for Children for 15 years. Mr. MITMAN was graduated from Wittenberg College in 1893, and was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was a member of new Carlisle Lodge No. 100, F and A.M., and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. Survivors are the widow, Edith MOUK MITMAN; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred MCINTIRE of Springfield; a son, Clarence L. of Springfield, and one grandson.

John W. HAAS, 81, of 1231 Highland av., died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Florence ESTERLINE, 26. W. Southern av. Death was caused by pneumonia, after a few days illness. A resident of Springfield since 1918, Mr. HAAS had been employed at The William Bayley Co. for about 13 years as a sheet metal worker. Previous to that he was employed by the Buckeye Incubator Co. He was a member of St. Bernard Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth OSTER and Mrs. ESTERLINE, both of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Frances SMITH of Sedalia, Mrs. Allie BAKER of Columbus, and Mrs. Barbara GRIEB of Springfield. The body was removed to the O'Brien funeral home.

SOUTH SOLON - George CLARK, 50 died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 11:30 p.m. Monday in the family residence. Proprietor of a grocery store here for the last four years, he previously conducted a grocery business at Selma for 12 years. He was a member of the Selma Methodist Church and the JOUAM of Pitchin. For 10 years previous to going into business for himself, Mr. CLARK was a salesman for the Midland Grocery Co. of Springfield. He was a native of Ross County. Surviving are his widow, Jessie; two sons, Champ, at home, and Gail of Dayton; three sisters, Mrs. Frances MOORE of West Jefferson, Mrs. Mabel WALLY of Bainbridge and Mrs. Floyd SMALLEY of Jackson Center; and two brothers, Wolfe of Linworth and Guy of Cleveland. The body was taken to the Sprague funeral home in South Charleston and was returned Tuesday morning to the residence, where services will be conducted.

Page 18. Carl W NICKLAS, 66, of Dayton, died at 10 pm Thursday in the St Elizabeth Hospital, Dayton. Born in Springfield, he had lived in Dayton 50 years. He was an employe of the Dayton Board of Education for 17 years, and a member of the Junior Order of United America Mechanics. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am Monday in the Morris Sons funeral home, 1809 E Third st, Dayton, with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield. Funeral services for John D. SCHAFFNER, 85, of Route 1, New Carlisle pk., will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the residence, with burial in New Carlisle Cemetery. The body will be returned to the residence Friday evening from the Richards Memorial Home. Mr. Schaffner, a retired farmer, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in his residence. He had been in failing health for six months. He was a native of Springfield, born in this city April 4, 1860, the son of Peter and Caroline SCHAFFNER. Mr. SCHAFFNER was born in historic Pennsylvania House on W. Main St., which his parents were operating at the time. He had resided on Clark County all of his life. Survivors are a son, Roy D., also of the New Carlisle pk., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Eldon Edwin EVANS, 8, of801 N. Florence st., died unexpectedly about 5 p.m. Tuesday in Champaign County Hospital. He recently had undergone a tonsillectomy. Born in Springfield, he had resided here all his life. Eldon was a member of the Lagonda Congregational Christian church Sunday School. Next autumn, he would have been a third grade pupil in Washington School. He is survived by his father, George E., in the Navy in the South Pacific; his mother, Dorothy of Springfield; a brother, Thomas Edward of Springfield; his paternal grandfather, Fred EVANS of Springfield; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mildred ROSS of Dayton; his maternal grandfather, Harold HILL of Springfield, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna HILL of Springfield. The body was removed to the Richards Memorial Home.

Funeral services for George W. ZIEGLER, 64, of 644 Clifton av., will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Raphael Church. Mr. ZIEGLER died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in City Hospital following a five-month illness. He was a barber at the Charlie and Dewey Barbershop on S. Limestone st. He was a member of st. Raphael Church, the Legion of the Moose and a charter member of Springfield Lodge No. 536, Loyal order of moose. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Herbert WOOD with whom he resided, and three grandchildren. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home.

D. K. SHISLER, 76, a resident of the IOOF Home, died at5:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. SHISLER Had been in the tobacco business for 25 years, and came to the home in January, 1942, from Lewisburg Lodge No. 571, Lewisburg, O. The body will be sent to Lewisburg for funeral services and burial.

Miss Effie B. BRADBURY, 75, of 1524 S. Yellow Springs st., died at 8 a.m. Wednesday in a nursing home at 1212 E. High st., where she had been ill for two years. Born October 16, 1869, in Springfield, Miss BRADBURY had spent her life in this city. She was a member of Central Methodist Church. Two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ela BRADBURY and Mrs. Adelaide BRADBURY, both of Springfield, are the only survivors. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home.

Charles Dillard, Farmer, Succumbs. William E. DILLARD, 81, died in his home, four miles east of South Charleston, at 9 a.m. Saturday. A native of Pike County, he had lived in Clark County for the last 40 years. He was a large land owner. He is survived by eight sons and two daughters; the Rev. Ralph, Clifford, Thomas, Okey and Desloyes, all of South Vienna; Luther, of Jeffersonville; Hinton, of Springfield, Route 2; Herbert, of Urbana, Route 1; Mrs. Joanna KNOFF, West Liberty, and Russie DILLARD, at home; 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The body was removed to the Sprague funeral home in South Charleston and will be returned to the family home Sunday afternoon. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Christian Union Church in South Solon. Burial will be in South Solon.

Born near Enon, O., on Oct. 21, 1850, the daughter of John Harrison and Margaret LOVE LITTLER. Mrs. CUMMINGS had been a resident of Springfield since the age of six years. She was the widow of Finley O. CUMMINGS, who died Sept. 4, 1922. One son, Wilbur L. CUMMINGS, and a grandson, Wilbur L. CUMMINGS, Jr., a casualty of World War II, preceded her in death. She was a member of the High Street Methodist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Dallas V. HALVERSTADT of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. William BRUCE of Springfield; and five grandchildren, Capt. Dallas HALVERSTADT of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Benjamin LOVY of London, Eng., Mrs. William MINOT of Greenwich, Conn., Mrs. Hanson BALDWIN of Chapaqua, N. Word has been received of the death of Wilber D. JAMISON, 55, former Springfield resident, at 5 pm Saturday in his home, 748 Green St. Toledo, O. Born near Bellefontaine, on April 3, 1879, he resided in Springfield for a number of years, and was employed as a meat cutter for the E.W. Fulmer Co. He went to Toledo four years ago, where he was employed by The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. Survivors are his widow, Louise; two brothers, Harry W. 322 S. Wittenberg Av, George A. of Clear Lake, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Kennedy funeral Home in Bellefontaine at 2 pm Wednesday with Burial at Bellefontaine.

Will G. PHENEGER, 78, Ohio Masonic Home resident, died Monday morning at the Rickly Memorial Hospital at the home. Born Dec. 4, 1866, in Union Township, Logan County, O., Mr. PHENEGER was a printer, farmer, and railroad conductor. He entered the home April 12, 1942, sponsored by Bellefontaine Lodge No 209, F. and A.M. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. SERLIES, whose address is not known, and Inez of Springfield; and four sons, Paul of Tucson, Ariz., Gale of Wabash, Ind., Don of Bellefontaine, and Russell. The body was removed to the Woods Funeral Home, and was to be taken to the Kennedy funeral home in Bellefontaine, Monday afternoon for services 4 pm Wednesday. Burial will be in DeGraff.

Page 8A. Nevin E. CALLISON, 72, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday in his residence on Penny pk., Springfield, Route 2. He had been in failing health for the last six months and in serious condition for the last week.  He was born on a farm in German Township, November 22, 1872; the son of Moses and Mary C. CALLISON, and spent his entire life there. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Estella M. CALLISON, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. CALLISON was a member of the White Star Lodge, K. of P.; the Donnelly's Creek Lodge Jr. OUAM, and the Reformed Chuch, all at North Hampton. The bodywas taken to Jackson-Lytle funeral home.
