Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery. Mr. YEAZELL was one of the first hat merchants of Springfield, conducting a shop on W. Main st. He retired from business 25 years ago. He was born in Moorefield township, and had lived in this vicinity his entire life. His only surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Frances A. WARD, of Springfield, and nieces and nephews.

Born in Springfield, Mr. Horton had spent his entire life here with the exception of two years during which he lived in Dayton. He was a member of the Second Lutheran Church and also Champion Council, Jr. O.U.A.M.

FORMER RESIDENT TAKEN BY DEATH. Mrs. Thomas J. DIGAN, 71, Succumbs at her Home In Pittsburgh. Mrs. Thomas J. DIGAN, 71, a former resident of Springfield, died Thursday at her home in Pittsburgh, Pa., according to work received in Springfield by relatives. Mrs. DIGAN had resided in Springfield for a number of years before going to Pittsburg, and besides her many relatives here, there are scores of friends who will mourn her loss. Mrs. DIGAN had been ill only a week following a stroke of paralysis. She was the wife of T. J. DIGAN, with whom she and her family left Springfield about 20 years ago. Mrs. DIGAN was former member of the St. Raphael Church, in which she was always an active worker. Besides her husband, she leaves the following surviving relatives; two daughters, Miss Nelle DIGAN and Mrs. Alex SCHAEFFER, both of Pittsburg; her son, S. C. DIGAN of The DIGAN Cleaning and Dyeing establishment of Springfield; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie KELLY; a niece, Mrs. J. N ROBINSON, both of this city; a nephew, James S. KELLY, and a brother-in-law, John DIGAN, all of Springfield. She also leaves two brothers in Chicago. Funeral services will be held Monday morning in Pittsburg, and burial will be made in that city. S. C. DIGAN and Mrs. J. N. ROBINSON will go to Pittsburg to attend the funeral.

Funeral services for William STROME 70, who dropped dead at 9 a.m. Friday while working in the garden near his home in New Carlisle will be held at 2.30 p.m. Monday at the residence in New Carlisle. Rev. J. Yoder, pastor of the Brethen Church of that place, will conduct the service in New Carlisle. Burial will be made in New Carlisle. Page 11. South Vienna, May 20 - Lemuel SMITH, 74, retired farmer, this city, hanged himself early this morning from a rafter in his barn. The body was found by his daughter, Miss Glenna SMITH, who lived with him. Miss SMITH missed her father this morning and went to his room to call him. She found the bed empty and became alarmed. She searched other rooms in the house and finally went to the barn where she saw his body hanging from a rafter in the haymow. A small piece of rope had been used and the noose was secured with an iron ring. Coroner Theodore F. SCHAEFER had not made his investigation of the tragedy yet this morning, but it is thought that Smith committed the act about 4:30 a.m. SMITH had been losing his eyesight for some time and his hearing was almost entirely gone. This is believed to have been responsible for the suicide. Two daughters survive SMITH, Miss Glenna and Mrs. Ruth MITCH of Catawba. Funeral announcements will be made later. Death Notice was published the next day, Tuesday, May 21, 1929: SMITH - Lemuel Smith, 74, committed suicide by hanging Monday morning, May 20, 1929, in his barn at South Vienna. Phillip J. SCHNEIDER, 48, Taken by Death While Working In Office Urbana, June 1,--Phillip J. SCHNEIDER, secretary of the Urbana Manufacturers' Association died from a stroke of apoplexy yesterday morning in his office. He was born in Springfield in 1881 and came to Urbana in 1907. While in Springfield he was engineer for the telephone company. In 1914 he formed The American Tool and Die Co., with the aid of H. P.Creighton. Two sons, Earl and John are students now at Wittenberg College. Mr. SCHNEIDER accepted the post of safety director under the former mayor, John Bucher, and helped to perfect the police and fire departments of this city. He was a former president of the Kiwanis Club and member or the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He is survived by his widow and five children, Earl, John, Paul and Hugh at home, and Mrs. Ned KIRBY in London. Columbia st.. He had been ill only a short time. Mr. HATFIELD in former years was city salesman for the Fleischman Yeast Co. and was well known in Springfield among business men and grocers. He retired from active business 12 years ago. Mr. HATFIELD was a member of Champion Council, No. 2, Junior Order of United American Mechanics and was also affiliated with Champion City Council, No. 23, U.C.T. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth HATFIELD; a step-son, Walter W. After an illness of only a few hours, Ralph A BOYD, 57, lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 4 pm Friday at his home, 527 S Fountain Ave. Apoplexy was the cause of death. Mr Boyd had been in good health prior to Friday. Mrs Boyd had spent the afternoon downtown shopping and upon returning home was informed by her aunt, Mrs Margaret BOYD, who makes her home with them, that Mr Boyd had been slightly ill during the afternoon but had seemingly recovered. When Mrs Boyd went to her husband she found him dead. Born in Springfield, Mr Boyd had spent his entire life here. He was born Nov 11, 1872, in the house in which he died. For the last seven years he had been employed at The Springfield Metallic Casket Co as a timekeeper. He was a member of Anthony Lodge, F and AM, and was also a knight templar. He was affiliated with the High Street ME Church. Besides his widow, Mrs Nina BOYD, he leaves a son, Edward BOYD of Birmingham, AL; a step daughter Mrs Mildred DYE of this city; and a sister, Mrs Anna TUCKER of Salem, O. Mr Boyd was a nephew of OH ANDERSON, local real estate dealer. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday at the residence. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Pg 20. Miss Ella KISSELL, for the last 36 years a teacher in Springfield public schools, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 235 W. Euclid Av., after an illness of only one week. Miss KISSELL was a teacher in the primary grades of the Emerson School for more than 12 years. Hundreds of her former pupils will mourn her death. William Roberts, principal of the school, paid her the following tribute in speaking on behalf of the teaching staff of the school: "We are deeply grieved by the loss of Miss KISSELL. She was a conscientious and able teacher and is sure to be missed. Her death was a shock to all of us." Miss Kissell was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and of the Women's Town Club. Surviving are four brothers, Charles M., South Charleston; John Earl, Galion; and Samuel J. and Ralph E. of Clark County; and two sisters, Villa M. and Anna R., both of Springfield. Mrs. Elizabeth MORGAN, 83, widow of David MORGAN, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home, 1813 Lexington Avenue. Mrs. MORGAN was a native of Cardigan, Wales, and had some to this country when a child. She was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church. A son and two daughters survive her. They are, Thomas MORGAN of Springfield, Mrs. Anna M. KING of this city, and Mrs. Mary E. POWERS of Philadelphia. Burial will be made in Woodlawn cemetery in Ironton, Ohio.

Miss Mae SAUTER, 40, WAS FOUND DEAD Monday at her home, 1245 East Main Street, Coroner Theodore F. Schaefer, who was called to investigate, attributed death to natural causes. She is believed to have been dead five or six days. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home. The body was found by William FOX, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph FOX of 1239 East Main Street, who were neighbors and friends of Miss SAUTER. They had sent the boy to Miss SAUTER'S home to find out if there was anything wrong as she had not been seen about for some time. According to friends, Mrs. SAUTER was born in Springfield and had lived here her entire life. At the time of her death she was making preparations to vacate the house and to join her sister in Panama, where she would have made her future home. Her sister, Mrs. Minnie ELLIS, wife of First Sergeant Charles B. ELLIS of Battery A. Field Artillery, Fort Davis, Panama, is her only immediate relative. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home, where funeral arrangements await the arrival or word from her sister.

George F. JONES, 82, of South Vienna, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday at his home in that place. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the residence. The body was removed to the Patterson funeral home. Mrs. ROBINSON leaves her husband; her mother, Mrs. Mary GREEN; and two sisters. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Johanna O'CONNOR, he leaves six sons, Michael O'CONNOR of Columbus, Daniel, John, Thomas, Maurice, Jr., and James O'CONNOR, all of Springfield; three daughters, Mrs. Frank KARL of Springfield; and Mrs. John LEVALLEY of Columbus, and Mary O'CONNOR of this city. Mr. O"CONNOR was born in Ireland and had come to America when a young man. He made his home in Springfield for the last 22 years, and was affiliated with the St. Raphael Church.

Mr. GEIGER was a prominent business man of Detroit and Canton. He was the son of the late Prof. and Mrs. H.R. GEIGER of this city and Wittenberg College, and is survived by his widow; a daughter Mrs. Nellie McGAVERN of Detroit; three sons, Bruce of Troy, Paul of Massillon, and Robert of Canton; one brother Judge Frank W. MIRANDA, 83, well known resident of New Carlisle, died at 3 p.m. Monday at his home in that place. Mr. MIRANDA had been justice of the peace of New Carlisle for the last 25 years, and was a candidate for mayor of that town four different times. He had always taken an active part in the town administration. He was born near North Hampton, and had lived in Clark County practically all his life. Mrs. Margaret Brennan, 67, Of 1 W. North St. Dies --Injuries received when she was struck by an automobile Tuesday morning resulted in the death of Mrs. Margaret Brennan, 67, of 1 W. North st., at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday at the City Hospital, where she had been a patient since the accident. Mrs. Brennan, who was employed as a cook at a local cafeteria, was struck by a car driven by Pearl Thomas of South Charleston, while she was crossing the intersection at Main and Limestone sts. Following the accident she was removed to her home and later taken to the hospital. Born in Clark County, Mrs. Brennan had spent practically all her life here. She made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Records, Mrs. Records being her daughter. She was a member of the St. Raphael Church. The body was removed to the O'Brien funeral home.

BUSINESS MAN TAKEN BY DEATH. S. C. DIGAN, 54, Succumbs at His Home, 1230 S. Limestone St. S. C. DIGAN, 54, proprietor of the S. C. DIGAN Cleaning and Dyeing Establishment on E. High Street died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home, 1230 S. Limestone Street. Mr. DIGAN had been in failing health for several years. His condition became more serious a week ago. His unexpected death will come as a great shock to his scores of friends and acquaintances, to whom it will also bring sincere sorrow. When his condition became critical a week ago, a consultation of physicians was held, and it was believed that he would rally favorably. The turning point in his illness came about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. DIGAN was one of Springfield's well known business men, having been in the dry cleaning and dyeing business for almost a quarter of a century. His business had been located at various places on High Street had been conducted there for the last 15 years. Born in Springfield, Mr. DIGAN lived here his entire life. He received his education in the St. Raphael School, and was also a devout member of the St. Raphael Church and the Holy Name Society of the church. He was also affiliated with Springfield Council No. 624 Knights of Columbus; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Moose Lodge. Fifteen years ago next July, Mr. DIGAN was married to Miss Nelle DOOLAN of this city, who survives him. Besides his widow, he leaves three children, Mary Abigail, Jeanne and Thomas James DIGAN; his father, Thomas DIGAN of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sisters, Miss Helen M. DIGAN and Mrs. Alex SCHAEFER, both of Pittsburgh; his aunt, Mrs. Annie KELLY of Springfield; and two cousins, Mrs. James N. ROBINSON and James S. KELLY, both of this city.

David Edwin WEST, 52, of Route 8, Rebert Pike, died suddenly Tuesday at his home. Coroner Theodore F. Schaefer, who was called to investigate the death, gave a verdict of probable heart injury caused by over exertion. Mr. WEST, who was a farmer and janitor at the Oak Grove School house on the Fairfield Pike, was taken ill Monday while endeavoring to crank and engine controlling the light plant at the school. Tuesday morning when he got up he complained of the same illness, and a short time afterwards died suddenly.
