created in 1848 from portions
of Allen,
and Mercer
Counties.
Other neighboring counties are Darke, Hardin, Logan, Shelby,
and Van Wert Counties.
Wapakoneta is the county seat.
Auglaize is a Native American word meaning "fallen timbers."
