About TAGS

The Alliance Genealogical Society was formed in 1982 by a group of Alliance residents who were interested in tracing their ancestry, and is a Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. The TAGS founders had a special interest in the history of Alliance and the surrounding areas, since their ancestors were among the pioneer settlers of Eastern Stark County and the neighboring counties of Portage, Mahoning, Carroll and Columbiana.

TAGS has a Mailing List through RootsWeb which provides the ability for you to post messages and information to all other subscribers of the list. Think of it as a bulletin board to post questions, information pertinent to the Alliance area, or genealogical information in general. If you would like to subscribe to the list, simply send an E-Mail to: tags-l-request@rootsweb.com. The E-Mail message should only contain the word "subscribe" in the body, nothing else. You will receive a welcome message with further instructions on how to post, unsubscribe, etc. The list is a service provided by The Alliance Genealogical Society and is open to everyone, all you need do is subscribe.
