Town of Charlton Cemeteries
compiled and annotated by Dave Bixby. For Dave's discussion of his motivations and methods, please see his Introduction page.

Scotch Church Cemetery - Charlton
883 stones.
Located at the intersection of Rtes. 147 and 67. Section 1 is the section immediately at the corner (inside the angle of the driveway.). Numbers start at the corner on the Rte 147 side. Section 2 is to the left (north) of section 1, extending from route 147 to the rear of the cemetery. Numbers start at Rte. 147, and extend to the rear of the cemetery. Section 3 is behind section 1 on the Route 67 side. Numbers run from theRoute 67 side of the section north (to section 2).
According to Cornelius Durkee's account of 1879, "This cemetery is on the east side of the road between the villages of West Charlton and Galway, distant about one mile north of the first place. It is opposite the "Scotch Church", and is the most prolific in inscriptions of any of the Charlton cemeteries, the portion nearest the street having been in use for many years. The newer portion in the rear contains several polished shafts and monuments of Scotch Granite, in some instances bearing the names of the Scotch stone cutters. The inscriptions were copied October 3, 1878 by Edward D. Harris."
