Lyman and Sarah SMITH
Lyman Smith, b. 1809 Marcellus, NY, son of
Samuel and Frances Alexander Smith, his wife Sarah Benedict Smith,
daughter of Eri Benedict, b.1813 at Greenfield, Satatoga, NY.
Samuel Smith first purchased land in July,
1804 in Onondaga, later the same year he purchased land from James Geddes
on the east boundary of Marcellus, but in Marcellus near Navarino. By 1809
he bought parts of lots 49 & 56 in Marcellus where he and later Lyman
operated a saw and cider mill on Smith Pond, until Lyman and Sarah relocated
to Kansas in 1870. I have found reference in the 1825 will of Caleb Alexander,
a Presbyterian Missionary listing among other heirs, his daughter Fanny,
wife of Samuel Smith. I would appreciate any additional information
on this family.
