Cemetery Index
These cemetery records were compiled by Mr. & Mrs. Charles W. McLellan over a forty year period begining in the 1920's. They donated these volumes to the Special Collection of the Feinberg Library, SUNY, Plattsburgh. The collection consists of a surname index and a cemetery discription list. Included in the latter is the Volume Number of the collection that contains the inscription data for that cemetery.
An example follows. In the "A" page I find a listing for the surname "ABARE". Following the surname there is a listing of ""AL 5". I then go to the cemetery page and find "AL" which is the abreviation for the town of Altona. "AL 5" describes the ""Holy Angels R. C. Cemetery (in the village of Altona), Vol. 1."
To obtain a copy of the inscription description you would request from the special Collections librarian a copy of the pages from Volume 1 from the AL 5 cemetery for the surname ABARE.
McClellan Cemetery Requests are now $5.00 per surmame (up to five cemeteries) -- additional cemeteries are $1.00 each, with postage and handling of $3.00 per request/order.
