Point Gratiot Lighthouse - 1875 (from the

Another View
Built: 1875. This light is
situated at Point Gratiot on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie. The first
lighthouse at this site was built in 1829 but was determined to be in
poor condition by the Lighthouse Board. The present tower is attached
to the large Victorian style two-story dwelling by an enclosed short
brick passageway.

PARTRIDGE-SHELDON MANSION at 70 Prospect St, Jamestown, NY It is a Bed and
Breakfast now in 2004. The house was the first house built on Prospect Street.
Joel Partridge built part of this home about 1845. He also named the street
"Prospect". Later Porter Sheldon, a prominent lawyer and business man, elevated
it to mansion status with over 20 rooms. In 1908, the property was willed to his
daughter Cora Sheldon Tew and later passed to Granddaughter, Dorothy Tew
Johnson. She bequeathed the house to the Jamestown Chapter of the Daughter of
the American Revolution. (The information is from the brochure by the DAR.)

The
Hearse picture was taken 1925, when T.P. and Ruth (Fuller) Mattison
moved to Kennedy, NY and bought the funeral home and grocery store
business from the Danielson Estate. "There was an
old horse drawn hearse, that was part of the Danielson Estate, which
Tom's (T.P. Mattison) children played in, and later was given to the
Indian Reservation for their use. Tom embalmed the Indian,
Rolling Thunder."

JULY 4, 1876--The Cochrane barn at 205 E. Main, Ripley still owned by
the descendants, William and Fred Cochrane, grandsons of William W.
Cochrane, was "raised July 4, 1876 by neighbors and friends who took
the Independence day for the construction project.<>

James Farrar. Between 1910 & 1920 A.H. Farrar sold to Will Munger.
Owned By Munger until his death then run by his daughter Lucy Munger
Clute until sold to Ronald Cave & Wife in the 50's.
