CAPE BRETON COUNTIES GENWEBThis page is a major update to the original. The list is basically in three sections:
A. A partial listing done by Beverly Darby-Brown
This is an older list, taken shortly after 1986. Corrections are welcome.
B. Many stones recorded by R. Fraser in 1998.
C. A major new project undertaken by Beverly with the assistance of Candace Boudreau and Debbie MacKinnon in June 1998: to record all the stones in Brookside Cemetery.Any comments , additions, or queries regarding this cemetery should be directed to Beverly Darby-Brown,

Listing done by Beverly Darby-Brown
Some of these older stones were originally located in the old
Presbyterian Cemetery on Main Street, Sydney Mines. The stones and remains were moved to Brookside on Halfway Road to accommodate the excavation for the Sydney Mines High School, presently the Sydney Mines Junior High School.
Where I have grouped records, the names appeared on the same stone or in groups belonging to the same families.
This list is an old one. Corrections are welcome. My e-mail address is: bev.darbybrown@ns.sympatico.ca

For my purposes I have laid the cemetery out into 7 sections. The first 3 sections are
visible from the Halfway Road with "Section 1" being on the left hand side as you face
the cemetery. I started at the back left corner of each section and worked L to R,
R to L between the rows to the front of each section. Rows were not always straight
rows. In some cases there were family groupings.Beverly Darby-Brown
