About the USGenWeb Project
and the
NDGenWeb Project

In March and April of 1996, a group of genealogists in Kentucky began organizing the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. From this developed the plan to build a website for every county in Kentucky.

This idea rapidly spread to include all the states and by the end of 1996 volunteers had built counties for nearly every county in the nation. To this day, the USGenWeb Project and it's state and special projects are an all-volunteer effort to provide free online resources and data for genealogists.

NDGenWeb is the project for North Dakota. If you wish to participate by adopting or helping with a county or by submitting data, contact the current owner of that county page, whose name can be found either near the bottom of their county page or on the county table page, or contact Joe Zsedeny, temporary State Coordinator.
