The oldest Methodist Church in Cabarrus Co. organized about 1783 - meetings
were held in the arbor.
Camp meetings were held here before the Civil War.
Original church was located at Depot and Church Sts on South Church St.
Deed for the land for the first building was Oct 17, 1808 between Thomas McCahorn
of Cabarrus Co,
of the one part; Thomas Love, Clabourn Freeman, Alexander McLarty, James McLarty,
and John Garmon
Trustees, in Trust for purposes hereinafter mentioned of the other part.
1835 - more land was acquired, and a larger building was erected - to replace
the log structure that had been
used since 1810.

Calvary Associate Reformed Presbyterian
Church - 1602 Lane Street, Kannapolis
Established March 1985 as a mission church of the Presbyteriian Church of America,
better known as PCA. In November 1995 it became a mission of the Associate
Reformed Presbyterian Church, better known as ARP.
On March 28th, 2004 Calvary became organized as a particular church of the ARP
(i.e. not a mission any more.)
The first pastor was Rev. Monty Sharah 1987-1988.
The second and present pastor is Rev. Gene Frady - 1988 to the present.
The church was and is composed of descendants of the original German immigrants
to the area - Earnhardt, Seaford, Honeycutt, Cook, Frady, Overcash, Plyler,
Lowder, Caskey - with a few English, Scots and Welsh thrown in.

1814 - Coldwater became a union church, Lutheran and Reformed.
1843 - Rev Jeremiah Ingold, Pastor ---- Lutheran Congregation withdrew
in 1843, and the Reformed congregation
was under the ministry of Rev. Ingold.
1851- A new church was built a few miles from the original site and called Mt
Gilead

Noteworthy church items: First marriage was John Anderson
(famous hunter) to a daughter of John Rogers, first settler

Rogers, son of John Rogers.

ca 1771 - Under the direction of Capt John Paul Barringer, the Lutherans
separated from the Reformed bretheran
and built their own church on a site in the present graveyard. Daniel
Jarrett was the contractor, and the building
committee was Capt Barringer. The church was built largely from Capt Barringer's
own expense; and a large pew
was built for his family.

Westminster Presbyterian (AA) - Rev Frank Logan was pastor at one time.
Zion AME Methodist (AA)- began as Zion Chapel
in 1859, oldest African American church in Concord. Zion Wesley Institute
was started to educate church members......later changed to Livingstone College
which relocated to Salisbury.Members of this church formed Price Temple, which
is now Price Memorial AME Zion Church in 1895. Then some members of this
church started the First Congregational Church in 1902, which is now the First
