By Donna (McGibbon) White, daughter of James McGibbon

Donna writes that " I have an old ledger containing old accounts. As the book was started on January 15th, 1872 you can appreciate the fact that the writing has some what faded. However, I believe that the school opened the 1st day of May in the year 1873 with J.S. Moore as secretary and Earl Dowling hired to teach for six months ending the 31 st day of Oct. 1873.
The rest of the contents of the ledger consist of the cost of supplies etc. At the very back cover they have noted the size of the school as 32x25x12. For many years it was called a Superior School. It was like a high school and one could continue their further education at college or whatever. It seems that after 1920, the term "Superior" was dropped from the report cards.
As far as I can find out this school closed in 1969 and what a shame to lose our little country school. My children went to this school, then they started bussing them into St. Stephen. They received a very good background here and the county students nearly always came out on top after entering St. Stephen."
