Probate Court Files may include some of the following documents:
a will (if there was one), a petition for an executor or administrator,
probate of the will, names of the heirs, inventories
of the deceased estate at the time of their death, affidavits and other

Probate, derived from Latin, meaning " to prove". The Probate
Court Records

In cases where there was no will, the records may contain letters
