The First Battalion Kent County was formed out of the Third
Battalion Northumberland County Militia in October 1828.
Its Headquarters were at Richibucto in 1829.
The Second Battalion Kent County Militia was formed about 1832.
and its Headquarters were in Buctouche.

A History compiled by S. Douglas MacGowan, Harry (Mac) Heckbert 
and Byron O'Leary.

 "The Fighting 26th" becomes the only infantry battalion to continuously represent New Brunswick on the battlefront in France and Belgium during World War I and receives 21 Battle Honours
The  New Brunswick Genealogical Society  published a book (1984)with the names of the Officer Appointments for the Kent County Militia as well as the Officer Appointments for other Battalions in New Brunswick.
