In the early days of Garfield County (prior to the 1930's) the lack of good roads, and transportation, made many of the communities self-sufficient, and that included cemeteries.

Funerals were held soon after the death and the burial took place in a nearby community cemetery, or on the homestead.  In addition to this list of cemeteries there are a large number of known burials of family members on homesteads.

The Garfield County Historical Society  has indexed the burials in the cemeteries listed below, as well as many of the homestead burials.  If you are looking for information, or know of a family member buried on a homestead, please contact them.
