Roster of the
32nd Mississippi Infantry

This roster of the 32nd Mississippi is a compilation of data from Tommy Lockhart's list, the Soldiers and Sailors system and information I have found in various places such as Tippah County Historical and Genealogical Society publications and cemetery markers.  Some data has been contributed by people researching the soldier.  Additional data on companies A - G was added from two other sites with the permission of their webmasters, Bobbie Brewer Wilson and Milton Sandy.  Links to their pages are listed below.   My thanks to them.  If a man served in more than one company I have attempted to put him in all companies in which he served.  Where cemeteries are given with no location they may be assumed to be in Tippah County Mississippi.

Since I don't want to change the list Tommy created I decided to replace my old list with data from all available sources.  I will add footnotes to Tommy's list if the data submitted can be proven.  You will find two footnotes in this list.

[1] Data taken from cemetery markers.  Please note that this information can be wrong.  Sometimes relatives did not know the unit in which the soldier served.

[2] The 26th Mississippi Infantry was captured at Ft. Donelson, TN when it surrendered Feb. 16, 1862.  Not all of the men were captured and the ones who weren't were placed in the 32nd Mississippi.  When the men were exchanged the 26th was reorganized and Gen. Bragg ordered the men of the 26th back to their old command.  Most seem to have been ordered back about Jan. 10, 1863.  Some returned on their own prior to the order.  These men you should be able to find on the list of the 26th Miss. Infantry on these pages.  Most Tippah County men were in Company E.

This report was sent from the Adjutant to Gov. John Pettis of the Mississippi units in Confederate service 1 Nov. 1863:

Thirty-second Regiment: Colonel, M. P. Lowrey; lieutenant-colonel, W. H. H. Tison; major, F. C. Karr. Southern Farmers, Captain Alexander Archer; Buckner Boys, Captain Benjamin J. Whole number, including field and staff officers, 783 men.
