LIBRARY
NEWS - At the close of the 2007 season, PCHS librarian Nancy Horton
reported that “2007 has been a very busy year. The library has
had 77 visitors. Out-of-state visitors were from California,
George, Kansas, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Washington
and Wyoming. We also had a visitor who came all the way from
Afghanistan. Our busiest day was the Saturday of Easter weekend
when we had eight visitors researching at the same time.” Some
recent additions to the library include, “Tenth Annual Reunion,
United Confederate Veterans, Missouri Division, held at Joplin, Mo.,
on September 26-27, 1906,” donated by Marion Nichols of Torrance,
CA.; and “Abstract of Title to the Subdivision of Miltonwood”,
part of the Platte Woods area of the county, platted circa 1950’s.
The abstract lists property ownership changes dating back to
1843. This document includes many names of people and companies
of early Platte County.
