Christian County Time Line

1818- Missouri became a territory.

1819- Henry R. Schoolcraft explored the area now known as Christian County.

1821- Missouri became a state.

ca. 1822 - First settlers came to area now known as Christian County.

1843 - Village of Ozark was incorporated.

March 8, 1859 - Christian County was organized in an Act passed by State Legislature.

August 2, 1861 - Civil War Skirmish at Dug Springs, Christian County.

1865 - Courthouse burned.

1882 - Chadwick branch of the Springfield Southern Railroad was completed.

May 10, 1889 - Baldknobber hanging.

April 1922 - Tornado in Ozark.

1945 - New Christian County Fairgrounds built.

1975 - Christian County Museum was started.
