Searching for name of Josshua MORRIS's Osage Indian wife who gave birth June 3, 1869 to my Grandmother Sadie MORRIS. Joshua operated Indian trading posts and is listed in numerous Missouri Census in Ripley, Shannon, Carter ,Iron and Washington Counties. Sadie married James Thomas COLLINS 12 June 1893 and resided in Grandin, Missouri. COLLINS family had boys James, Harry, Donald and Richard, sisters Gertrude and Florence. I believe that my great grandparents lived in Carter Co. at one time. My great grandmother was Elizabeth MORELAND who was born 6 October 1832 in Carter Co., TN. My great grandfather was Ruberry (or S. Ruberry) DOBBS who was born 13 Feb 1821. I do not know where he was born. According to the family Bible, Ruberry and Elizabeth were married 24 Feb 1854 but we do know where. I have reason to believe that they lived in Carter County in the late 1850's and early 1860's. Later they lived in Marion Co. and Franklin Counties in Arkansas and Red River and Lamar Counties in Texas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am researching the MITCHELL family. The earliest known location for my great-grandfather, Flavius Josephus MITCHELL, was in Carter Township in 1860 (according to 1860 Census). He was recorded as Flabe MITCHELL with his wife, Mollie or Mary, and a child whose name I could not read. According to family legend, he and 2 brothers and their families left Carter Co. for Texas soon after the Civil War. On the 1900 TX census it shows that F.J. was born in TN, although my uncles have told me that they were told he came from Ireland. I do not know his brother's names, when they settled in Carter Co. or the year they left. Any help on this search would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a way that I can find out where Canaan Township was. I would like to come to MO this summer and look for where they lived.

My Mother's name was Helen Lorene FARRIS SALYER. Her father was Toney Elmer FARRIS mrd to Mary Frances JOHNSON around 1916. Great- grandfather was James Pinkney FARRIS mrd to Florence HAMPTON. Date unkown. I am trying to find out anything about the FARRIS family as early as the 1800's. Any help will most appreciated.

I am seeking information on Josuha C. MORRIS, Grandson of Robert MORRIS of Philadelphia who signed the Declaration of Independence., and Josuha's 2nd wife, an Osage Indian woman. Seeking her name or any information about them. Josuha MORRIS married Luvey HYATT on 18 Feb. 1818 in Ripley County. She died and left him a widower. He remarried an Osage Indian woman, believed around 1865. Looking for any record showing her name or the marriage date. Sadie MORRIS born of this union 3 June 1869. Sadie married James Thomas COLLINS and they lived in Grandin, MO until 1900. May have also been in Carter and Shannon Counties (found a Joshua Morris on Shannon Co 1870 census. Also, I've been trying to find out if Missouri required licensing of Indian Trading Posts? I was told that Josuha operated one, probably in Ripley County near the border as that's where he married his first wife in 1838.

Trying to locate any descendant's of JOHNSON L ABRAM and wife MARGARET NEFF, lived in Carter Co. MO in 1900 & 1910, may have lived in Carter township. Johnson Abram was killed in Shannon Co. & was the son of GABRIEL ABRAM & MARIA MILLS. MARGARET NEFF, daughter of DAVID & NANCY NEFF, who migrated from Jackson Co. Ohio to MISSOURI before 1880.

The surname I am interested in is MAHURIN. I don't know too much, but my father Billy J MAHURIN was born 1937 in Van Buren to Pearl HEDRICK MAHURIN and Carl MAHURIN. I was told that the family had come from the Ozarks, and had to move away as my grandfather Carl had robbed a bank I believe in Leadwood. I'm assuming the time frame I am looking for would be 1930-45.

Looking for Benjamin Andrew SCHNEIDER(SNIDER) Married to Martha L. BUFF. Children to include John M., Henry Leander, Edna, and Lucinda. Lived in Carter Co. in 1910 census (John and Henry Leander) and Benjamin and Martha were found in Shannon Co. in 1880 census. Henry Leander was born in 1882. Benjamin born in 1849(?) Poland/Germany not sure which. Martha born in Mo.(?).
