The St. Joseph Family Tree Project is a collection of family trees that at one point or another, end up (or pass through) St. Joseph County, Michigan. I came up with the idea while researching some family names in the area. After going through the Obits on the rootsweb message boards for St. Joseph County, I realized that a wealth of genealogical data existed thanks to the efforts of Carol Carr and other volunteers who graciously donate their time transcribing the articles. So I have begun organizing the family data into web pages that can be searched and navigated. This information is meant to help researches "connect the dots" of their ancestors in the county.
But to be truly effective and beneficial, I need your help! You can contribute your family trees in the form of a GEDCOM. This can include pictures and historical refernce information as well. I will merge the information into the St. Joseph County Family Tree database and link it with any information that already exists. Also, if you notice any errors or have additional information and corrections to a family, I would appreciate being notified.
In the meantime, I will continue to include information as time allows from the transcribed obits, so check back often to see if your family tree grows!
