John Calvin ("Jack") MCCARTHY born 1856/7 Manitowoc, WI came to Saginaw, MI area, then built his home in the northern end of Montcalm County, Home Township, Edmore, MI in late 1880's. He married Carrie Violetta COLBY in 1884. They started their family while living in Rolland Township, Isabella County. Her mother was Martha Jane (STORRS) COLBY and 2nd marriage to Wm. TUTTLE. Martha's father was William STORRS. Seeking confirmation of William STORRS listed in Montcalm County 1870 Census, Sydney Township as her father. The farm south of "Jack" and Carrie's place was built in late 1880's by Henry and Karen (ANDERSON) GUSTAVISON (both born in Norway). Karen and Henry's daughter, Martha GUSTAVISON, married Jack and Carrie's son, John Daniel MCCARTHY in 1911. John Daniel and Martha raised their family in Rolland Township, Isabella County.
