Linda Dill suggested I include a brief history of PG county. The county seat, and a small map or directions, and any changes to the size of the county along with the effective dates would also help.

For the history, county development and maps, be sure to visit the PG links page. The County celebrated it's 300th birthday in 1996 and has created a marvelous set of pages. In response to Linda's suggestion, I have added a tiny blurb just under the main index including PGC's founding date and the county seat. Thanks Linda!

Records Available Through Local Societies:

Judith Whipple suggests that it would be helpful to know what records are in print and for sale by the local genealogical and historical societies. If anyone is a member of either PG County Society, and can supply me with the information about available records, or knows whom I should contact to request this information, please let me know.

Hardware Limitations:

To date (6/1/97), the contributions received from researchers centered around taking care of our hardware handicapped brethern. First, Pam Middleton-Lee suggested that I provide a parallel text only version of the site. Then Robert Hole, Jr. addressed the problem of file sizes and proposed a limit in the range of 35K. Both suggestions have been implemented.

Along the same lines, Elizabeth Emory worked with me to develop a graphic which her system, and probably other systems could display properly. Apparently some hardware just cannot handle the opening graphic....thus, the alternate (JPEG) version appears on the alternate page.
