The Research Committee of the Massachusetts Society of Genealogists performs research in Massachusetts. Send inquiries to: MSOG Research Committee Ashland, MA 01721-0215 or e-mail MSOGResearch@aol.com
If by snail mail, enclose a long, self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with your request. If you have an e-mail address, please include it. You can also e-mail the Research Committee with your request and include "MSOG Research" in the subject line.
Describe exactly what you want the Research Committee to find for you. Include all information that you already know about the person or family to be researched. Also include information on collateral lines as they are often helpful in establishing relationships or suggesting other avenues for search.
Cite the sources (Vital Records, Census Records, books, family records, etc.) and research facilities that you have already consulted. This will minimize duplication of efforts you have already made. Include Ancestry Charts and Family Group Sheets if possible.
Please specify the maximum amount of money you are willing to spend on research fees and other charges for this request.
Research fees: Members of MSOG: $9.00/hour (one hour minimum). Non-Members: $15.00/hour (one hour minimum).
If the research produces no new information, the inquirer is still expected to pay the research fees. Do not send any money with your request. You will receive an itemized bill when the research is completed.
Our research is done by experienced volunteers, although none are Certified Genealogists. We will try to give you a progress report, if not a final report, within two months of starting your project.
There is no charge for general information such as addresses of research facilities and general advice on your research problem in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Society of Genealogists does not assume responsibility for work done by MSOG Research Committee volunteers.
