District School House #4

Photo of Old School House where the society holds meetings.

District School #4 was constructed in 1845 in the Greek Revival Style and is a well preserved example of a one-room school house.

This building was first located on Elm Street and was moved in 1867 to the head of Elm Street on Main Street. In the year 1939 it was moved again to the L. Z. Thomas School and used for grade 4. The most recent move was in 1963 when it was moved to its present location on the west side of L. Z. Thomas School and used as a meeting place for the Hanson Historical Society. Our first meeting in the District School House was Oct. 3, 1963.
