GENERAL MEETING
April 22, 2008

President Shirley Brinly called the meeting to order at 12:00 Noon.

Delores Eisenbeis read the Minutes of the March 25 Meeting. Motion was made, seconded and passed that the Minutes be approved.

Ross Sherer gave the Treasurer’s Report for March 2008. Income was $311.00; income $1,567.06, which included the cost of the projector, approximately $1,300.00. This resulted in a negative change to the bank balance of $1,256.06, leaving a balance $4,312.45. Membership was 323. Motion was made, seconded and passed that the report be accepted.

Lynn Grossman then gave an overview of the proposed Bylaw Amendments. Motion was made, seconded and passed that the changes to the Bylaws be accepted. The approved Bylaws would be posted on the website.

Greg Claypool addressed the group about the features of the new projector, which was to be used in the workshop being presented by Debbie Campisano.

Betty Graham said LGS needs an additional projector for the seminar and asked if anyone could provide one. Greg would ask the church if they had one that we could use. Lynn Grossman asked if any member knew of a good source for purchasing a cabinet to house the new projector. If so, they should contact Barbara Ratliff. Greg thanked everyone who had contributed to the projector fund, especially Barbara Ratliff who had donated the difference needed for this purchase.

Lynn then announced the program on May 13 would be presented by Chuck Parrish, speaking about the history of the Ohio River.

Connie Fry said the workshop for the April meeting would be Debbie Campisano, the topic “Putting the History in Your Family History”. On May 27, Phil Hysell would present “How to Learn the Full Story of Your Revolutionary War Soldier Ancestor – An Example”. Then, on June 26, Barbara Davis would speak about “Organizing Your Genealogy”.

Connie said the Irish Society would be having their tea on Thursday, April 24, at Bob Hill’s Farm.. At the meeting on May 6, the speaker would be Jim Walters, the topic “The Gaelic Language”.

Susan Snyder thanked those who had sent articles to her for the quarterly.

Larry Selby said there was no trip planned for the fifth Tuesday in April. The Fort Wayne trip was scheduled for May 19. The date for the Salt Lake City trip was to be September 14 through 21. Anyone interested should contact Larry.

Phil Hysell said Seminar plans are moving along well. Phil asked for donations for the Silent Auction which should be given to Jeannie Luhr. Phil also requested volunteers for helping at the Seminar.

Betty Darnell announced Spencer County Historical and Genealogical Society would meet on Monday, April 28, at the library in Taylorsville.

Barbara Bailey stated Bullitt County Genealogical Society would meet Saturday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ridgway Library. The speaker would be Roger Geist.

Dolores Bohn said there were 51 members and 2 guests present.

Dick Bealmear stated he would not be present at the meeting on May 13 and asked for a volunteer to take a photograph of the speaker.

Meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
