Cooper Thomas Turner was born in Hickman, Fulton Co., Kentucky on 18 May 1925; the son of James Thomas Turner and Floy Lorene Cooper. He served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. During the Korean Conflict he was a Master Sergeant in Company C, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He single handedly killed over 25 of the enemy, being mortally wounded and died, while supplying cover fire for the withdrawal of his men during the action at Sesim-ni, South Korea on 4 February 1951. His body was shipped home and he is buried in the Hiickman City, Cemetery next to his parents.
