AUSTIN, Basil of 708 Isabella St. Newport. Inducted in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 27, 1918.  Born in Marrengo, Ind. March 22, 1889.  Served overseas Sep 1, 1918 to Feb 22, 1919.  Honorable discharge on March 6, 1919.  Reported 0% disabled.  He is reported on a list of wounded.

AUSDEMOORE, Harry B Jr. of 560 East Third Ave Newport.  Nearest relative was Mrs. Alice (Mooney) Ausdemoor of same address.  Father was Harry B Ausdemoore of same address.  Single and 17 when entered service May 1, 1917.  Gassed at 2nd battle of the Marne.  Also suffered fracture of left knee.  Discharge Mar 15, 1919.  Conduct excellent.

BAKER, Lindsey M of RR #4 Butler Ky.  Born in Campbell County Aug 1, 1896.  Inducted in Campbell County Apr 29, 1918.  Served overseas July 22, 1918 to Mar 24, 1919.  Severely wounded Sep 12, 1918 on Alsace Loraine or Boyat and taken to base hospital no 30 at Royal France where he remained until Jan 6, 1919.  Moved through several other hospitals including New York hospital upon his return from overseas in March 1919.  Honorably discharged May 3, 1919.  0% disabled.

BANGER, Charles of Newport died of wounds per Army list.  Nearest relative Mrs. Anna N Meyer, 213 Walnut St. Bellevue.

BARON, George Corporal of Newport.  Born in Cincinnati Oh and age 20 and 5/12 years when enlisted in Cincinnati on June 23, 1917.  Slightly wounded July 29, 1918.  Served overseas from Oct 18, 1917 to Feb 2, 1919.  Honorable discharge Feb 17, 1919.  In view of occupation he was on date of discharge reported as 10% disabled.

BELZ, Elmore F Private of 512 McKinney St Dayton.  Born in Cincinnati Oh, age 26 1/2 years at induction in Campbell Co on June 27, 1918.  Never made it overseas.  Died of broncho pneumonia Oct 7, 1918 in Camp Taylor, Ky.  Person notified was mother Mrs. Minnie Belz of same address.

BERGER, Raymond Anthony born in Newport June 12, 1891.  Enlisted in the US Marie Corps at Cincinnati Aug 1, 1917.  Served overseas Feb 25, 1918 to Apr 25, 1919.  Gassed Apr 13, 1918 in the Toulon Sector.  Exited from service May 19, 1919.  Character-excellent.

BEST, Elby Private of 632 Saratoga St Newport.  Born in Gertrude Ky. Age 10 2/12 years when enlisted at Columbus Barracks Oh on Apr 21, 1916. (looks like 6 was typed over a 7).  Served overseas from June 14, 1917 to March 3, 1919.  Severely wounded July 21, 1918.  Also wounded Oct 21, 1918.  Apparently wounded again Nov 26, 1918.  Listed on causality list of June 9, 1919. Citation for gallantry in action (but no warranting any decoration) June 1, 1919.  Died of disease.

BIEDENBENDER, Richard Herman-Dayton. Born Apr 22, 1898 in Dayton. Enlisted in the Marines at Cincinnati Apr 14, 1917.  Served overseas July 3, 1917 to Aug 3, 1919.  Gassed (mustard) Oct 4, 1918.  Exit from service Aug 13, 1919.  Character excellent.  Awarded Fourragers.

BLACK, William M Private.  Resident 96 Percy St. Born in Belfast Ireland.  Enlisted at Ft Thomas July 2, 1917 at 18 7/12 years.  Served overseas Nov 12, 1917 to Dec 17, 1918.  Slightly wounded May 5, 1918.  Honorably discharged Jan 27, 1919.  Was 0% disabled.

BORNE, William Jacob Corporal of 411 W 4th St. Newport. Born in Newport.  Age 27 9/12 years when enlisted in Ft Thomas June 19, 1917.  Nearest relative was Mrs. Kate Oveldonne of same address with relationship not listed.  Served in army overseas from Apr 2, 1918 to ______.  Severely wounded June 7, 1918.  Was a corporal with Company B, 7th Machine Gun Battalion, 3d Division.  Awarded the French Croix de Guerre with the Silver Star, under Order No 11933 D, dated Nov 27, 1918.  General Headquarters, French Armies of the East, with the following citation:  "Was conspicuous by his great bravery in the defense of Chateau-Thierry and was gloriously wounded at this post of combat."  Honorably discharged June 15, 1919.  Reported as 0% disabled.

BOUGH, Thomas L Private of 926 Boone St. Newport.  Born St. Louis Mo. Jan 31, 1892.  Inducted in Newport Aug 30, 1918.  Never made it overseas.  Died of lobar pneumonia Oct 5, 1918.  Person notified was wife, Bessie Bough of same address.

BOWDEN, Lawrence Corporal of Newport.  Nearest relative Mrs. Edna Bowden, 641 Park Ave Newport.  In army overseas.  Wounded-degree undetermined per US Official Bulletin of Feb 13, 1919.  No other information.

Listed as age 18 on one document and 16 on another one when enlisted in "N G" at Cincinnati on Dec 3, 1915.  Nearest relative was Jennie D Brown of same address.  Mothers maiden name was Jennie Belle Donaldson.  Was a Corporal as of July 14, 1917 and Sgt as of May 15, 1918.  Served overseas June 22, 1918 to Feb 2, 1919.  Wounded in thigh (date not shown).  Honorably discharged Feb 17, 1919.  In view of occupation he was 10% disabled on date of discharge.
