Research Assistance

We do not charge visitors or members who come to the historical society office and/or the third floor archive room to do their own research.  Nor do we charge for the time a trained volunteer spends assisting visitors or members with on site research.

A charge will be made for contract research work done by a trained  BCHS volunteer on behalf of the society.  The monies from this research are used for the general operating costs of the society.

Our normal charges are $10.00 per hour with a 2-hour minimum and 25 cents per page for public documents and items from our family files.  The charge can be less in some cases; for instance when one specific document is requested and the location of the document (book, page number, etc.) is provided with the request.
