ABOUT US

The Bourbon County Kentucky Genealogical Society was formed on November 20, 2003.  The Board and the membership work hard to create an organization to be proud of and to rival the longer standing societies of our area.  If you have genealogical ties to Bourbon County, KY, we invite you to become a member of our Society.

 

 

OUR MISSION

We aim to promote interest and encourage people who have an interest in genealogical research in Bourbon County, Kentucky.  We aim to cooperate to the highest level possible with other societies that are actively interested in genealogical preservation.  We aim to collect and preserve cemetery records, Bible records, military records, government records, vital statistic records and other records and other records relating to genealogical preservation.

PROJECTS ON THE INTERNET

 

Naming the Forgotten - The Eastern State Hospital Project

 

Naming the Forgotten, a special project within the KyGenWeb, is working to gather the names of those who lived and died at Eastern State Hospital, formerly the Eastern State Lunatic Asylum, prior to 1956.  It is suspected that the hospital cemetery may hold as many as 10,000 unmarked graves.  Anyone with information to assist in this endeavor please contact Mary Hatton.

April 17th - Charles Bogart, curator of the Fort Boone Civil War Battle Site in Frankfort will present a 60 minute presentation on Kentucky's Civil War Railroads and Forts.
