Emil Anderson (1969)

RILEY- Emil Anderson, 90, of Randolph, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital in Manhattan.

He was born September 7, 1878 in Randolph. Burial will be in Randolph Cemetery. (abstract MM)

Mrs. Wm Anderson Dead

Mrs. William Anderson died Sunday evening July 6, 1902 at 8 p.m. at her home five and one-half miles northwest of Randolph of intestinal trouble.

Mrs. Gustava Anderson was born in Gulleryd Vestergotland, Sweden, February 8, 1835, was married to Wm. Anderson the 24th of March 1859. Came to this country May 26, 1869 and in 1870 settled on the homestead in the Prairie Rock neighborhood where she has lived until she was called to her home above. She became a member of the Swedish Mission Church of Randolph in 1871 where she has been a faithful member until her death. Thre funeral was held Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. J.H. Hanson and Hugo Alm in the Swedish language and Wm. Peterson in English, in the Rose Hill M. E. church and from there the remains were taken to the Rose Hill cemetery where she now rests.

Mrs. Anderson leaves a loving husband and one son, C.J. Anderson, who lives near by, to mourn the loss of their dear one; beside other relatives and hosts of friends, but we mourn not as those that have no hope. Rest in peace. (RE)

Mrs. Hannah Anderson (3-30-1969)

RANDOLPH- Mrs. Hannah Anderson, 73, died Friday at her home in Randolph. She was born Oct. 22, 1895, at Walsburg and had been a lifetime resident of Randolph. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson, in 1961.

Survivors include two sons, B. Anderson, Olsburg, and M. Anderson, Rt 4 Manhattan, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Inez H. Anderson (4-26-1970)

Graveside services for Mrs. Inez H. Anderson, 78, who died Thursday in Sarasota, FL.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Riley County to William and Roxana Hepler. She graduated from Manhattan High School.

Survivors include her husband, Algot B. Anderson, Sarasota, FL; two sons, S.D. Anderson; W.B. Anderson, a brother, J.V. Hepler, five grandchildren, one great grandchild. (abstract MM)

Richard Anderson (4-30-1970)

WATERVILLE- Richard Anderson, 82, Waterville, died Tuesday in Waterville. He was born September 26, 1887 in Randolph.

Mr. Anderson was a retired farmer and had lived in the Randolph-Waterville area all of his life.

His wife, Lillie Anderson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, R. Anderson, Waterville, H. Anderson, Aurora, CO; a daughter, Mrs. R. Hohman, Leonardville, a brother, E. Anderson, Topeka; a sister, E. Peters, Topeka; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grand-children.

Anderson, Ruth M. was born June 9, 1916, at Keats, the daughter of Victor and Lydia (Linder) Carlson; she died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan; married Bertil C. Anderson Jan. 20, 1937; preceded in death by a daughter and a brother; survived by a son, C. Anderson and wife of Leonardville; three daughters, D. Schilling and husband of Goodland, F. Forslund and husband of Kansas City, Mo., and R. Peter and husband Randolph; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren (CCD)

William Anderson Dead

Wm. Anderson died Monday, May 3, 1909 at 6:45 A.M. at the home of his son, C.J. Anderson, five and one-half mile northwest of Randolph, aged 77 years, 4 months and 16 days.

Funeral services were held at the Rose Hill M. E. church Wednesday, May 5, 1909 by Rev. A. Grandin, pastor of the Mission church at Randolph, Kansas and Rev. E. Nelson of Rose Hill. The remains were laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Wm Anderson was born Dec. 18, 1831 in Kjolingare Vestergotlan, Sweden. He was married to Gustava Josefson March 24, 1859. Came to this country May 24, 1869 first locating in Randolph, and in 1870 settled on a homestead in the Prairie Rock neighborhood.

His wife died July 6, 1902. To this union was born one son with whom he has made his home since her death.

Mr Anderson with his wife, Gustava joined the Swedish Mission church in Randolph in 1874 of which he had been a member until he was called beyond.

Wm Anderson leaves one son and wife and three grandchildren, and one brother and one sister in Sweden and a host of friends to mourn his loss.

Atkinson, Anna Jo, was born Sept. 26, 1930, at Bala, the daughter of Clifford J. and Margaret (Peterson) Young; she died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Hutchinson; married Gerald Atkinson on March 15, 1951, in Abilene; preceded in death by a sister; survived by a daughter, D. and husband of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, D. Atkinson and wife, of Larned and J. Atkinson and wife of Palestine, Texas; a sister, D. Dunn of Clay Center; and five grandchildren; burial Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center (CCD)

Thomas B. Avers (1-2-1970)

Thomas B. Avers, 83, Manhattan, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. He was born October 15, 1886 in the Sedalia community of Riley County.

He was a retired custodian for the Manhattan Public School system and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Verna of the home; one son, E.E. Avers, Hutchinson; one daughter, Mrs. M. Rendon, KC KS, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son, W.L Avers, preceded him in death in 1951.

Pearl Thurlow Avery, 84, of Leonardville, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at her home; born Jan. 11, 1922, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Lowry and Frances (McCune) Tague; married on Feb. 14, 1941, to Roderick Thurlow, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1987; also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Arlene Thurlow on June 29, 2004; married Albion Avery on Sept. 24, 1992, and her survives of the home; survived by two sons, Kenneth Thurlow and his wife Camille of Wakefield, and Steven Thurlow of Riley; one daughter, Connie Taylor and her husband Paul of Olsburg; three step-daughters, Jonne Long of Kansas City, Kan., Cheri Black of Philadelphia, Pa., and Kriss Avery of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Bill Tague of Topeka; two sisters, Marjorie Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., and Rosie Handley of Topeka; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren; burial in the Timber Creek Cemetery east of Wakefield (abstract MM)

Elmer Axelton (10-21-1975)

Topeka- Elmer P. Axelton, 76, Topeka, died Monday in a hospital here.

Born Feb 22, 1899 in Randolph, he lived in Topeka for the last 23 years.

He was preceded in death in 1971 by his wife, Lucile Axelton. Survivors include a son, M.L. Axelton, Topeka; two daughters, Mrs. M. Erickson, Topeka; L. Axelton of the home; two brothers, A.G. Axelton, Wamego, and L.R. Axelton, Manhattan; a sister, Mrs M. Wagner, Manhattan, and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Laura Axelton

Topeka- Mrs Laura A. Axelton, 78, died in a Topeka Hospital October 6, 1972.

She was born Dec 18, 1893 in Winkler in Riley County and spent her entire life in the Alert community northwest of Leonardville. She had lived in Topeka about 30 years.

She was married to R.O. Axelton who died Oct 3, 1961. A son, D. Axelton, died in September 1941.

Survivors include a son, L. Axelton, Boise, ID; a daughter, Mrs A. Sippel, a brother, H. Gustafson, Blue Rapids; a sister, Mrs. E. Bergstrom, Clay Center; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services at the Alert Community Covenant Church. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Leonardville. (abstract MM)

Mrs. Lucile Axelton (5-2-1971)

Mrs. Lucile Axelton, 66, Topeka, died at a Topeka Hospital. She was born in Olsburg, and had lived there until 1952 when she moved to Topeka.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Topeka.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer Axelton, of the home, one son, L. Axelton, of Topeka; two daughters, Mrs. M. Erickson, Topeka, Miss L. Axelton of the home; three brothers, J. Carlson, Denver, CO; E. Carlson, Empoli, Italy; V. Carlson, Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. H. Litton, Denver, CO; Mrs. A. Shaw, Strasburg, CO, and six grandchildren.

Reuben O. Axelton

Reuben O. Axelton was born March 28, 1884 in Randolph, KS. Died in October 3, 1961.

Survived by wife Laura of the home, a son, L. Axelton, Boise ID, a daughter, Mrs. A. Sippel, Clay Center, KS; two grandchildren; three brothers, E. Axelton, Clay Center; A. Axelton, Wamego, and L. Axelton, Manhattan, and Two sisters, Miss E. Axelton and Mrs. M. Wagner, both of Wamego.

Services at 1 pm Friday in the Alert Mission Church with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.(abstract MM)

Ruth E. Axelton (4-27-1970)

Miss Ruth Estella Axelton, 79, Manhattan, died Sunday in Wamego City Hospital. She was born September 30, 1890 in Pottawatomie County.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the WSCS of Randolph.

Survivors include three brothers, A. Axelton, Wamego, L.R. Axelton, Manhattan, E.P. Axelton, Topeka; One sister, Mrs. M. Wagner, Manhattan; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary Adda Aye (6-21-1962) Mrs. Mary Adda Aye, 54, died at the St. Mary's Hospital. Mrs. Aye was born Oct 20, 1907 at Junction City. She had been a resident of Manhattan since 1917. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. M.E. Brannan, Kansas City; two sons, J.M Aye, Manhattan; W. Aye, Topeka, her mother, Mrs. F. Boone, Manhattan; two brothers, G. I. Boone, Manhattan, F. S. Boone, Indianapolis IN; and two grandchildren.
