The neighbors and friends did most of the work to build the church which was dedicated in 1910 or near that date. The church served a large neighborhood. The Star schoolhouse was located southwest of the church; Frontier school on the northwest; Sideview school on the northeast; and Kinderhook school was to the southeast.

Some of the first neighbors and members were the families of: G. S. Colip, Cy Smith, Cass Simmons, N. N. Conard, Henry Sprague, W. A. Wilmot, Charley Rumsey, Kate Picraux, Elizabeth Hines, Clarence Morland, Joe McClelland, Johnnie Wade, Elias Foland, Tommie Howard, and Mr. Wright.

A few years later several of the young families were Curtis Sprague, Dave Clouse, Avery Howell, George L. Colip, Thomas Green, Melvin Simmons.

Rev. C. E. Huff of Oronoque was the minister for several years. The church was given to the Congregational Church in Almena in the early 40’s to help rebuild their church which was destroyed by fire. (Written by Zelma Leuszler for an old newspaper article)
