Index to "History of Emporia
and Lyon County, Kansas"
written by Laura M. French
Index by Regina Smith Falcetto
Great-great-great-niece of Laura Margaret French

In starting this project, I initially was indexing names as a family research resource. However, as the project got under way, I noticed many other subjects that might interest researchers other than genealogists. While this book is full of names and places, some are not usual topics of research expected to be found in this history book. With the exception of references to Emporia and Lyon county, all places within Kansas have been indexed. Locations outside of Kansas, such as Africa, have been excluded. The streets and avenues in Emporia have been included and are cross-indexed as well as other locations within Lyon county such as the creeks, fords and bridges. All clubs, organizations, study groups and churches have been included. - Regina SMITH FALCETTO June 1998
