Clay County's oldest continuous resident, Ross W. Pierce, 90, died at his Clay Center home after a long illness. He was born on the family homestead in Grant Twp. on Sept. 16, 1861. Survived by his wife, Alta Eib, two half brothers, Leo Pierce of Springfield, Mo, and Roy Pierce of Colorado Springs, Colo. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
