MRS. MANNION IS DEAD AT WICHITA
Another Pioneer Passes on to the Great Beyond – Funeral Will Be Held Here Saturday. Resided in Augusta since 1867. Three Sons Now Live in Augusta – Body Brought Augusta Today for Burial. MRS. MARGARET MANNION, aged 85, another of the pioneers of Augusta and Butler County, is dead. She passed away at her home, on North Washington, in Wichita yesterday, after a week’s illness.

Mrs. Mannion had resided in Kansas since 1867, living first on a farm northeast of the city. She moved to Wichita some time ago. Surviving are eight children, J.J. Mannion, J.C. Mannion, W.H. Mannion, of Augusta; Mrs. Kate M. Shea, of Wichita; Mrs. Mary Lipscomb, of Wichita; Mrs. L.H. Armstrong, of Wichita; Mrs. Maggie Cody, of Haverhill, and T.P. Mannion, of El Dorado.
The body was to have been brought to Augusta today, and the funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock, in charge of Father James Hayden.

MRS. WILLIAM MIERS Died: - At the home of Mrs. John Hoffman in Augusta, Sunday, August 11, 1907, of blood poisoning, Mrs. William Miers. The funeral was held from the Catholic church, the following day, and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery, northeast of Augusta.
Mr. and Mrs. Miers had planned to make a trip to Oklahoma with Mr. and Mrs. Charley Lehr. Everything being prepared, Mrs. Miers came to Augusta to spend a day with Mrs. Hoffman when she was taken sick. All was done for her that could be but on the fourth day she died. She was the eldest daughter of Dr. Warrender of this city.

MEMORIAL RITES TODAY FOR INFANT
ARIEL RENE PATRICK, infant daughter of Steve and Debbie Patrick, died Tuesday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. A memorial service was today at the Calvary Cemetery in Augusta. Father Thomas Stroot officiated. She was born Feb. 17 in Wichita.
Besides her parents, other survivors include a brother, Jason Catlett of the home; maternal grandparents, Charles and Pauline Combow of Augusta; paternal grandmother, JoAnn Patrick of Augusta; paternal grandfather, Darrell Patrick of Pratt, and paternal great-grandfather, Merton Hill of Benton.



WALLACE “TY” PECKHAM

WALLACE “TY” PECKHAM, 27, Houston, Texas, grandson of former Augusta residents Taylor and Loleta Peckham of League City, Texas, died Sunday, April 14, 1996. His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic church in Andover. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Gulf Coast Site Contractors.
In additions to his grandparents, Peckham leaves his father Wallace Peckham of Kemah, Texas; mother, Donna Kletchka of Rose Hill; sisters, Julie Peckham of Rose Hill, and Michelle Davis of Houston. The Downing & Lahey Funeral Home of Wichita is in charge of arrangements.



OTTO HENRY PENNY

PENNY SERVICES
Funeral services were held at the Kirby Funeral Home in El Dorado today for Otto Henry Penny, 69, with burial in Calvary cemetery here. A native of Germany, Mr. Penny was associated with the Laughlin-Simmons company. His only survivor is his wife, the former Catherine Schmidt.



DONALD B. RAITT

DONALD B. RAITT, 84, of Rose Hill, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998.
His service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Hillside Funeral Home Augusta. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, rural Augusta.
He was a retired Boeing Wichita supervisor.
He was born June 14, 1913 to Colin Dorwood and Effie (Barlean) Raitt in Plankington, S.D.
He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1946.
He married Martha Katz in Wichita in 1943. She survives.
Survivors include son, James of Rose Hill; daughters, Judith Johnson, Jeanette Power, Jeanne Raitt Pulec, all of Rose Hill, Jill Stach of Raymore, Mo.; 11 grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society.

ROSE HILL GIRL DIES MONDAY
JANN LOUISE RAITT, 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don B. Raitt, Rt. 1, Rose Hill died at St. Joseph’s hospital in Wichita Monday.
She was born September 21, 1949, in Wichita.
Survivors, beside her parents, include a twin sister, two other sisters and a brother, all of the home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic church, Augusta. Fr. Justin Bastin, of St. Vincent DePaul parish, will officiate.
Burial will be in Augusta Catholic cemetery. Hilyard Funeral Home of Douglass is in charge of arrangements.



ELLA SCHNEIDER RALSTON

MRS. ELLA RALSTON DIED AT WICHITA EARLY TODAY
MRS. ELLA SCHNEIDER RALSTON, 41, El Dorado, died early this morning in the St. Francis hospital at Wichita after a serious illness of four weeks. She was well known in Augusta having lived in the Pleasant Ridge district for a number of years. The Ralston’s moved to El Dorado 10 years ago.

Mrs. Ralston is survived by her husband, Ray Ralston, six children, Richard, Lyle, Warren, Catherine, Virginia and Helen. Also her father, George Schneider, El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. Mamie McKinney, El Dorado, and a brother, Andrew Schneider, who lives east of Augusta. Funeral arrangements were not completed today as plans awaited word from the son, Dick, who is in the U.S. Navy stationed in the Pacific. He was to harrive arrived in California today from Hawaii.



IDA ELIZABETH RAY

Homemaker Ida Elizabeth Ray, 91, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001.
Her service was today, Jan. 16, at St. James Catholic church in Augusta.
Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband, Malcolm; brother, George Woodruff of Palm Bay, Fla.
A memorial is established with the St. James Catholic church. Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.



ANNA REDINGTON

MRS. ANNA REDINGTON DIES THIS MORNING
MRS. ANNA REDINGTON, 66, a resident of Butler county for nearly 60 years, died in the St. Francis hospital in Wichita at 7:45 o’clock this morning after a 10-week stay in the hospital. Her birth occurred in Franklin, Pa., the daughter of John and Ellen Culhane. She came to Butler county with her parents when a small girl.

Her marriage to Thomas G. Redington occurred June 2, 1909 at Augusta. The surviving children are Helen and Owen of the home. A brother, Joe Culhane of Benton, survives as does a sisgter, Mrs. Stephen Lehr of Augusta. Mr. Redington’s death occurred on August 5, 1939.
She was a member of the St. James Catholic church. Services will be conducted there on Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock, with Rev. J.M. Moeder in charge. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery.



HELEN J. REDINGTON

HELEN J. REDINGTON, 86, of Augusta died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at Augusta Medical Center. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta. Her mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Mainzer conducting the service. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Helen Josephine Redington was born August 8, 1910, to Thomas George and Hannah (Culhane) Redington in rural Augusta.
She was a retired Sear, Roebuck & Company department head in charge of piece goods. Survivors are brother, Owen Redington of Towanda; nephew, James Redington of Wichita and nieces Teresa Moore and Alicia Redington of Wichita and Joan Burns of Richardson, Texas.
A memorial has been established with Catholic Charities. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home.



OWEN J. REDINGTON

OWEN J. REDINGTON, 87, of Towanda died Wednesday, June 21, 2000. He was a stockman/farmer. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 23 at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. His service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at St. James Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home; son James Redington of Towanda; daughters Teresa Moore and Alicia Redington, both of Wichita and Joan Burns of Richardson, Texas; 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
