REBECCA ANN COLLING, 75, of Augusta, homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, and her service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, both at St. James Catholic Church.
Mrs. Colling is survived by husband, George; sons, Bruce, Brian both of Augusta, Martin of Caldwell, Bradley of Rapid City, S.D.; brother, Charles Combow of Augusta; sisters, Helen Vanhouton of Amogerdo, N.M., Mary Ann Dehncke of Norton, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with St. James Catholic Church. Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MARK ANTHONY BARDOT, 39, Wichita, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001.
His service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mr. Bardot is survived by mother, Jane Densmore McLemore; father, Jerry Bardot both of Wichita; brother, Jeff of Pratt; sisters, Kathy Bardot of Pratt, Konnie Robinson of Newton; Karen Konkel of Wichita.

MARY LOU (RYMPH) SHAFT, 72, Douglass, retired nursing home administrator and area manager, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, surrounded by family and friends.Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Calvary Cemetery, Augusta.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
She was born in Harper on Aug. 9, 1930 and lived in Douglass.
She was preceded in death by mother, Vareen Rymph.
Survivors include: husband, Howard D. Shaft of Douglass; father, Delmar Rymph of Conway Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Beverly Mardis; stepson and step daughter-in-law, Craig and Mary Shaft.

JAMES POTTORFF

JAMES P. POTTORFF, 74, Wichita, retired cattle rancher and farmer, died Friday, May 23, 2003 at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. He was born Nov. 26, 1928 in Wichita to the late Lisle John and Anne R. Carney Pottorff. Mass of Christian Burial was held yesterday at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery, Augusta.
He was a graduate of Wichita Cathedral High School and attended Kansas State University earning an Associate Degree of Applied Science. Mr. Pottorff was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and served as district deputy, president of Rock Creek Joint Watershed District Board. He also served on the Rock Creek Township Board, Douglass Public Library Board and Douglass Fire Board.
On Dec. 20, 1951, he married Catherine I. Stover at Arkansas City. She survives.
Also surviving: brother, Rev. Lisle J. Pottorff Jr. of Douglass; sons and daughters-in-law, James P. Jr. and Judy of Lawrence, Richard M. of Sunnyvale, Calif., Michael L. and Cindy of Lawrence, Mark D. and Peggy of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa, Stephen L. of Great Bend, Timothy A. and Meaghan of Carpentersville, Ill.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. and Tim Hill of Burnsville, Minn.; 12 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. James Catholic School and Douglass Public Library.

GENEVIEVE E. “JEANNIE” SHIRK, 85, Augusta, St. James Catholic Church housekeeper, died Thursday, June 26, 2003.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow, July 1, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
Visitation is possible from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. this evening in the Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1918 in New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Kerval Sokol.
She was a member of Augusta St. James Catholic Church, the church choir, past president and member of the Altar Society, and a charter member of Harvest House.
On May 30, 1943 she married John Alden Shirk. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are: son and daughter-in-law; Frank and Sara Shirk of St. Charles, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette and Randy Windhorst of Wichita; grandchildren, Angela Radakovich and husband, Tony and Andrew Shirk; great-grandson, Mitch Radakovich.

DELBERT RAYMOND KENNEDY, 75, Oklahoma City, formerly of Wichita, died Friday, July 9, 2004.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Ann’s Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
He served in the Korean War and retired a senior master sergeant after 20 years in the United States Air Force.
His hobbies included water-skiing as the clown with the Wichita Water Ski Club, volunteering time with the Augusta Air Museum, and playing volleyball.
Survivors are: son-in-laws, Paul Milliken and Paul’s parents, Wally and Faith Milliken; Mike Karst and Mike’s parents, Herb and Tally Karst; grandchildren, Christy and John Milliken, Jacob and Max Karst.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Betty; daughters, Dorothy Milliken and Patricia Kennedy and Mary Karst.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

EARL JOSEPH SCHOENHOFER, 86, Augusta, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. tomorrow, Sept. 21, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight, Sept. 20, in the church.
Mr. Schoenhofer was a retired warehouse supervisor for KFC.
He was born March 23, 1918 as the son of Karl and Tillie (Smith) Schoenhofer.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie, daughter Dottie Kasper of El Dorado, grandson Cody Kasper of El Dorado, brothers and sisters, Margaret Stevens, Claire Ryan, and Charles Schoenhofer, all of Wichita, Larry Schoenhofer of Eureka Springs, Ark., Peggy Otis of Denver, Colo.l, Art Schoenhofer of Andover, Bill Schoenhofer of Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Don, Ed, and Dave).

TONY BOLINGER JR., 71, Towanda, insulation installer, sales and service employee for Overhead Door Company, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.
Mr. Bolinger served four years in the United States Navy and eight years in the United States Air Force.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.

SIMON B. BERNDSEN, 90, Douglass, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Medicalodge of Douglass.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Thursday, Dec. 23, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, with Rosary at 7 p.m. that evening at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Mr. Berndsen was born on Dec. 21, 1913 in Andale the third child of John Henry and Mary R. (Kraus) Berndsen.
He attended Andale schools and joined the United States Navy in January of 1941, served on the battleship USS Oklahoma. He was on board the morning of Dec. 7, 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
After Pearl Harbor, he was assigned to the USS Sarsi and served in the Aleutian Islands.
He was honorably discharged with the rank of Chief Motor Machinist Mate on Dec. 28, 1946.
He was employed by Boeing in Seattle, Wash. from 1946 to 1948.
On April 17, 1948 he married Bernetta Marie Metzen in Seattle, Wash. They moved to Garden City in 1948.
Berndsen worked as a farmer/rancher in several western Kansas cities until 1954, when they moved to Snowville, Utah.
In 1956, he moved to a farm east of Rock and served as ranch foreman for Stelbar Oil Corp. for 25 years, retiring in 1987 and moving to Douglass. After retiring he remained active by working for Rock Township and helping area farmers until 1992.
He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
He is survived by his wife, Bernetta of the home; daughters, Carolyn Kaplan and husband, Bob of Andover, Mary Lou Mauk and husband, Terry of Rose Hill; son, John H. Berndsen and wife, Lorna of Winfield; 10 grandchildren, Kristian, Aaron, Adam, Sarah and Brett Mauk, Kimberly, Kristine, Michelle and Kenton Kaplan, Paul Berndsen; three great-grandchildren, Shawn and Christopher Begich, Margaret Mauk; sisters, Josephine Green, Laura Call and husband, Ed of Wichita; sisters-in-law, Louise Berndsen of Wichita, Helen Berndsen of San Leandro, Calif., and Eileen Berndsen of Hutchinson.

JOAN FRANCES LINOT-KORTH, 42, Kansas City, Mo., passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Rosary at 8 p.m. Friday, with visitation following and Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, all at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
Joan was born in Wichita on April 4, 1962, the daughter of Joe Sr. and JoAnn (Swaney) Linot. She graduated from Circle High School in 1980, graduated from Kansas State University Research Medical Center, and worked as a medical technologist at Community Blood Bank.
She is survived by: sons, David, Eric, Luke and Adam; daughter, Jessica; parents, Joe Sr. and JoAnn Linot of El Dorado; brothers, Joe Linot Jr. and wife, Becky of Wichita, Jerry Linot and wife, Teresa of El Dorado; sister Jean Gibbs and husband David of El Dorado, nieces and nephews, Laiken, Logan, Lenexa, Alec and Reid Linot, Janay, Jacy, Jonam and Jaydee Gibbs, and Natalie Williams.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Mava Swaney and Maynard and Marguerite Linot.
