Last Friday night the city omnibus was set on fire and ruined. Nobody knows exactly how the fire was started but it is supposed that the horses got scared at the engine and put out for home, and on crossing the railroad the lamp was upset, setting fire to the bus.

The horses ran up Kansas Avenue, stopped at the bus barn, then turned and ran up to the central livery barn where they were caught and by prompt response from the pumping station the flames were soon extinguished. It was a windy night and it might have been a big fire. The stopping of the team before it got close enough to light any other building was fortunate.

All but the running gears of the bus was ruined. It belongs to H. Tinsdale, managed by J. B. Gano. R. S. Bisby, who was driving the bus, and Mr. Gano were in the waiting room at the depot when the horses started.
