Indiana Pioneer Cemetery Restoration Project |
Welcome to the Tippecanoe County, Indiana page for cemetery restoration.
I am L. A.Clugh, coordinator for the Tippecanoe County INPCRP. If you have any questions or comments about any of our projects, please contact me. As coordinator, I am available to offer guidance and training to volunteers who would like to adopt a cemetery in Tippecanoe County as their project, and to help educate any citizen, trustee or cemetery association in our county about restoration. Educational workshops are held usually twice a year throughout our state sponsored by the Indiana Historical Society & The DHPA. You will find more on these below. The Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission has documented 134 cemeteries and has published a book which gives information on each of these cemeteries, including the date of origin, location, condition, caretaker, etc. This book and a map is available for purchase at their office.
Listed below are links to several sites which have information on tombstone cleaning, repair supplies, books and general restoration. Most of our restoration projects are also linked below for you to view. There are many pictures on these pages showing our progress so the pages may load slowly - please be patient, they are worth the wait!
TCCRG volunteers will be working on cemetery projects throughout the year. If you are interested in helping us in any way, please contact me. We would love to have your help! Take a look at our State INPCRP page.
Lou Ann Clugh Monday - Friday you may phone 765-447-2317 days, or email me

News article 6-2008
State laws that govern archaeology, and will impact cemetery preservation, will change in July. To notify the concerned members of the public about how these changes will affect grassroots cemetery preservation work, the Indiana DNR Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA) will host eight meetings around the state. The meetings will also provide an opportunity to talk with DHPA staff members. In addition, we will be discussing a proposed rule change related to non-scientific probing in cemeteries.
