His first connection with that business was as driver of a delivery wagon. He was the type of worker and employee who gets ahead in any line of business, his ambition and energy being satisfied with no goal short of the top. Mr. Price is a native of Kansas, born near the City of Wellington, December 17, 1885. His parents, Charles and Martha Jane (McKee) Price, were born and reared in Preble County in Western Ohio. His father spent many years in educational work. After teaching for two years in Preble County he moved to Kansas, taught in that state for four years, and after his return to Ohio continued teaching nine years more. He lived on a farm near Union City, Indiana, but on the Ohio side, and for the past fourteen years has held the office of postmaster of Saratoga, Indiana. He is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the United Brethren Church. He and his wife have five children: Bertha, Mrs. Perry Bell, of Saratoga; William E.; Rev. Joseph, superintendent of a Quaker school at High Falls, North Carolina; Harry, a Pennsylvania railroad engineer living at Logansport, Indiana; and Wilbur, whose home is at Union City and who is a stockholder and salesman for the Knapp Supply Company of Muncie. William E. Price received his education in Preble and Darke counties, Ohio. From the age of seventeen until he was twenty-one he taught school in Darke County. On reaching his majority he moved to Union City, where the Knapp Supply Company was then located, and has been with the company since 1907. From driving a wagon he has filled practically every position in the company=E2=80=99s service. He was shipping clerk, receiving clerk, bookkeeper, order clerk, vice president, and since January, 1929, has been the active head of the business as president, is on the board of directors and one of the largest stock-holders in this prosperous and old established business. Mr. Price is a successful businessman who takes an intelligent interest in the work of his community. During the World war he was identified with all the local organizations for selling bonds, raising funds for the Red Cross and other auxiliary purposes was chairman of the township Liberty Bond committee at Union City and a four-minute speaker. Mr. Price is affiliated with the Masonic Lodge at Ansonia, Ohio, the Scottish Rite bodies at Dayton, and Antioch Temple of the Mystic Shrine. He also belongs to the B. P. 0. Elks, the Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Country Club, Union City Country Club, is a past president of the Rotary Club of Union City, and a member of the Muncie Rotary Club. He also belongs to the Muncie Club and is a member of the Central Supply Association and the National Pipe and Supply Association. He is a Democrat and he and his wife are members of the Presbyterian Church at Muncie. Mr. Price married at Union City, February 22, 1907, Miss Leota Adkins, daughter of F. M. and Lucinda (Walker) Adkins. Her father was a well-to-do farmer at Union City, and he and his wife are now living retired there. Mrs. Price graduated from the Union City High School. She is a member of the Eastern Star and Kings Daughters at Muncie, the Y.W. C. A. and Woman=E2=80=99s Club. To their marriage were born two children,one of whom died in infancy.
