GOODWIN
I am interested in locating a record of marriage for John Goodwin that probably occurred in the late 1850's in Coles Co. He married a Nancy (or a Sarah in some records). Their first child, James, was born in Illinois. By the time of the birth of their second child, Luantin, they were living in Sullivan County, Missouri. Is there a researcher who would be willing to research for a marriage record for him?
John was born about 1835 in Putnam County, Indiana, and is the son of Abner Goodwin and his second wife, Mary Gardner.
John and Nancy went to Washington Territory in 1865 and settled near what is now Dayton, Columbia County, Washington. Nearby was his half brother, George D. Goodwin, formerly of Coles Co. IL.
Because of this close proximity and his close association with the Knights and Whetstones who were also from Coles County, I am supposing that John may have married Nancy in Coles C. The other possibility is he married her in Cumberland Co. Unfortunately that county courthouse burned.
John later separated from Nancy, remarried, and died in Rochester, Washington (Thurston County). As yet, I have found no further record of his first wife, Nancy/Sarah.
I would appreciate any assistance that can be rendered. Thank you for your consideration Please find enclosed a SASE and check. Please inform me if it is not adequate.

SWINFORD, McGUIN/McGUINN
In an email to Karen Zike, Carol Kessner writes: "I would like for you to know that I had two tintypes printed and have negatives. They are of my Grandpa George Riley Swinford and his first wife, Virginia"Ginny" McGuin'McGuinn (sp?). I believe she was from Ashmore? I don't know much about her family. I know they had a little daughter that died after her mother. One seems to be wedding picture. If anyone has an interest in them or her, I would be happy to get a copy to them."

TURNIPSEED, SAGER(?)
In an email from Sandra Edgar, she writes: "I have just gotten possession of several diaries of my grandmother, Lissie Turnipseed, of Oakland. She was a faithful keeper of her diary, usually entering every day. I have several years: 1962, 1965, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 197s, 1973, 1975, 1979. Just browsing through, I have found references to the deaths of many of her friends and acquaintances in the Oakland area and also events of her family (she is the former Melissa (Lissie) Rogers of Hunt City). I have also received several old photos (two are tintypes) of people I do not know...there are no names on the back of some....some have names: April Faye Sager (?), there are are a couple of class photos of school children...I thing some of the photos came from an old salesman's sample case that we found in the rafters of her "smokehouse" when she passed away in the mid '80's, this case was probably left by the former residents of the house she and my grandfather moved into. If anyone would like me to look for a relative who died in these diaries, I will try to find them...although there are so many, it might take awhile....also, if anyone would like me to scan and send them copies of the photos to do some researching of their own, I would be happy to send them."

PARKER, RANDALL
First: My fifth great grandparents were James and Anna Doty Parker. They were parents of George David Parker of Coles County.
"Bareheaded" John Parker of Crawford County was interviewed by a Crawford County newspaper in 1901 in
which he said James and Anna had a daughter, Mary. Nothing is known of her.
In the 1830 Crawford County census, there is listed one female age 15 - 20 in the home of James and Anna. Anna was living with son George in Coles County where she died on 12 October 1830 at his home. She evidently left Crawford County after the June census as she is recorded as still in the same household as James and the female 15 - 20 years old in that year.
In the 1840 Coles County census in the home of George are listed three young females: one is 10 - 15; one is 15 - 20; and one 20 - 30. George was father of only two daughters. Can anyone tell me if the 20 - 30 year old might have been James and Anna's daughter, Mary, sister of George? What is the rest of her story? Was she afflicted; never married? Is she in Parker Cemetery with her parents?
These two census records, 1830 Crawford County and 1840 Coles County, seem to have the same young female.
Does anyone have knowledge as to whether James and Anna and the young female all went to Coles County in late summer, early fall, to live with George and family?
I have lots of "holes" I need filled in. Would love to hear from anyone with any information to help solve this mystery.
Second: Can anyone shed any more information as to when James Mercer Parker left Susannah Randall and his children? When did he return to them? - How long did he stay before leaving for good? Where did he go? Did he truly marry an Indian girl? Were he and Susan ever divorced? Her tombstone says "wife of James Mercer Parker."

CLARK, ODELL
Need names of parents/family of Andrew Clark and wife Nancy Odell, married in Charleston on July 7, 1833. He came with a group of settlers from Tennessee in November 1830 according to History of Coles County, Illinois. Their five children were born in Charleston before they moved to Missouri. Also Phillip Odell was a young man coming with this group. He married Mary Jane Yocum and died tragically in 1841. What relation was he to Nancy Odell? Also, Isaac Odell and Mary, his wife, came to the area in 1829 and remained their entire lives and raised a large family of 10 children. What relation to Nancy Odell? Was Benjamin Clark of the area a brother to Andrew? Thank you for running my query.

MARTIN, MILLER
My ancestors came from Coles and surrounding counties. John Martin, MG, and his son, William Harvey Martin, MG, were both early ministers in the Primitive Baptist Church, and were best friends of the early Parker ministers and their families. Robert Miller, father of William Miller, father of John Martin Miller, who volunteered into the Union Army at Charleston, Coles County, IL, were also my ancestors. William Miller Married Isabella Martin, and they are my great grandparents. I wish I know if the early Robert Miller was the one related to the Johnsons. There were two Robert Millers living in Coles County at the same time during the very early days there.

HAGGIN, WATTERS, GASAWAY
The 1860 Census lists Aaron Haggin and Phebe and the following children: Thomas Watters, Wm. Henry Watters, Eldred Haggin, Greenbery Haggin, John R. Haggin, Aaron J. Haggin. Eldred is listed as an 8-year old female (I thought Eldred was a man's name). Other children of Aaron and Phebe are: Charles M., infant, Maryetta, and Sarah E.
The 1880 Douglas County Census shows Edna J. Haggin married to Richard Gasaway; a nephew Jesse I. is living with them. Another census listing has "Ednie J."
The Gasaway listing is directly below the listing of Phebe and John R. and wife Sarah in the 1880 census.
All of the Haggins except Eldred are buried at Broadus Cemetery.
Query: Do we have an Eldred and an Edna J.? According to the cemetery records, the children listed were born in an order that would almost make it impossible for any additions.
I would appreciated hearing from any of the descendants about daughter Eldred - birth, death, burial, etc.
John R. Haggin shows two marriages: marriage #1 to Sarah J. Ann Hart on April 16, 1874 and marriage #2 to Esther mn. N on December 25, 1892. Did he have any children?
Marriages show that Ednie J. Haggin Married Richard Gasaway on April 16, 1874.
Query: need burial place of Daniel Thomas Watters (or Waters). He married Sarah Phebe Hodge.
Query: need burial place of Carolyn C. Roberts Watters. She married William Henry Watters (Waters on stone) in Douglas Co. on February 16, 1869. He is buried at IOOF Cemetery, Humboldt, IL.
