Forreston Herald, March 22, 1900:

Died: Mrs. Elizabeth (Swingley) Allen died at her home in Mt. Morris, March 17, 1900.
She was born in Washington county, Maryland, in 1822, being at the time of her death seventy-seven years of age. She was the daughter of Michael and Mary Swingley. She was married to Quinby Allen in 1841. She has four children living, Robert Q., Mrs. Robert McClure and Edward of this place, and Mrs. Cosgrove of Chicago. The funeral was preached in the Lutheran church, Wednesday forenoon, of which church she was a member. She was buried at the cemetery west of town, where her husband was buried years ago. She has a great many relatives and friends by whom she will be greatly missed.
