Cemetery Records of Mercer County, Illinois

DAR Illinois Society and the Mercer County Historical Society (As per USGenWeb Projects, and the ILGenWeb Projects policy adhering to copyright laws - Permission to use these Cemetery Indexes in the Mercer County pages given in writing, and kept in my files)To Inquire for more information on individuals in the Cemetery Indexes, write to Nadine Holder.

**A helpful note from Nadine: "You can find these records in LDS Library Microfilms: 0848589 for Volume I and 0848590 for volumes II through VIII. That way if I get hit by a truck people can still get their records. Some people might also like to look at the actual records as it is sometimes significant as to who is buried next to who - I try to tell people such things when I do the lookups but sometimes forget!" .

Note: Please include full name , page number and Volume number when sending a request for more information.

The ladies of the DAR went out and walked these cemeteries. 1 volume was written per year.  As you can see, the volumes were set up with groups of pages being done per cemetery.  Therefore, the "Keys" are needed to determine what Cemetery the grave sites were in.  There may be some duplicates in these lists, but I believe they are at a minimum.  I've not attempted to delete any possible duplicates, since it is possible they are a case of 2 people with the same name.   Once all of the volumes are done I'll be working on getting the maiden names, and/or others in a table of their own.  I hope combining the volumes like this will indeed be a lot easier for all of you.

  Vol 1   Vol 2   Vol 3   Vol 4   Vol 5   Vol 6   Vol 7   Vol 8

Now...By Cemetery also. See table below
(The individual cemeteries cannot be added to until the full volume is finished)
Note: Norwood Cemetery is in 2 volumes, I and VII

MAPS - From the Life Along the Mississippi River in the 1800's website

Nadine Holder has set up a page with maps (made by Kevin Martin <KLM2714@aol.com.>) Showing the locations of the cemeteries.  He's doing a beautiful job with the maps he's done so far.  More to come.
