Instructions for Contributing to the Library Database Project

You may submit as much or as little as you want, as often as you want. The database can grow slowly or quickly, as long as it grows. The larger it gets, the more useful it becomes.

Thank you for your participation!

 LIBRARY DESCRIPTION

Please submit, supplement, or correct the following information about the library:

  • Repository Name
  • Address
  • Telephone
  • Fax
  • Main (Home) Page URL
  • Genealogy Page URL
  • Catalog Page URL
  • Hours
  • Description - collection overview, tips or warnings about making a visit (where to park, call ahead to see if the volunteer-staffed room will be open, etc.)
This should be in the body of your email message and doesn't need to be sent unless there are updates or changes. Just indicate the library name at a minimum.
 SOURCES

Please record the source data in a spreadsheet* with columns labeled as shown in the table below. When you are ready to submit your data, select SAVE AS and choose either COMMA DELIMITED or TAB DELIMITED file type and send it as an attachment to CAGG-NI.

Each library should be in a separate file. Start a new file when submitting additional data. Do not resend data.

*A word processor or text editor could also be used, so long as the fields remain in this order. Set up tab stops for each field and tab to each field position. Save it as a plain text file and email it as an attachment.

Leave Country blank for the United States.
If it applies to the Entire United States, please put "Entire U.S." in the city column.
