Lewis County, Idaho

Lewis county was officially established  March 3,1911
and was created from Nez Perce County.

Prior to this Lewis County area had a very colorful history.
The Nez Perce Indians made this area their home for hundreds of years.

The first white men to tread on the soil of what is now Lewis County were
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, during their famed expedition to the
Pacific Coast in 1805-1806.

County organizers bestowed upon Meriwether Lewis
the honor of naming the county after him.

Communities include:
Craigmont, Kamiah, Nezperce, Reubens, and Winchester
