We Appreciate Volunteers like Marilyn HolmesIn the past few weeks, Marilyn Holmes has sent us a great many transcribed Obituaries that she has gleaned from several sites,  including the wonderful Web files of the Stewart Library of Grinnell.  Her work makes them easy to find and read.  Check the files at our IAGenWeb Obits Board, below.

Thank you, Marilyn!

Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society

Founded in 1978, the Society at Montezuma is dedicated to providing historical and genealogical information about people, places and events in Poweshiek County's past.  They have an extensive library of historical documents, books and records and will perform searches both there and at the Court House for a small fee.

The Society has recently moved into a spacious building that was for many years the Carnegie Library at Montezuma.  This location will provide much more space for many more activities and programs.

The Society welcomes your inspection and your membership!  Click here for museum hours, meetings, officers, publications, etc.
