Mission Statement

The Jones County Historical Society mission is for heritage preservation focusing on the unique history of Jones County, Iowa; heritage education being a leader in the preservation of local history; and heritage tourism collaborating and working together with other historical and cultural organizations.

Vision Statement

The Jones County Historical Society will be an educational resource, a leader in the preservation of local history, and an integral part of the community collaborating with other historical organizations in the area working together for mutual assistance and for the benefit of local history.

JONES COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Jones County Historical Society was organized in the early 1970s. All items on display have been donated and volunteers maintain the grounds, buildings and displays. The Edinburgh Historical Village and Museum is located about 2 miles east of Amber, just off E23, 1/4 mile on Edinburgh Road. From Anamosa, proceed north on Hwy 151 to E23. Turn right on E23 and proceed through Amber about 2 miles to Edinburgh Road (by Edinburgh Manor). Edinburgh Village is behind the Jones County Maintenance Garage.

The grounds of the Edinburgh Historic Village and Museum is available for family reunions, alumni gatherings, weddings, organizational meetings, and group tours.

There is no entrance fee for the Edinburgh Historic Village and Museum , however, donations are appreciated.
