Welcome to the WORDS mailing list! You are currently subscribed in
"mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made
to WORDS as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to
digest mode are given below.
1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to
WORDS-L-request@rootsweb.com
that contains (in the body of the message) the command
unsubscribe
and no additional text.
2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd
not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance,
if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you
want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to
WORDS-L-request@rootsweb.com.
3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and
sent to you together as a single large message). There are two
steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to
WORDS-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second,
send the command "subscribe" to WORDS-D-request@rootsweb.com
to start receiving digests.
4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode.
All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe
when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them
to start again, simply subscribe again.
5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing
list receives it, just send it to WORDS-L@rootsweb.com. It
will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode.
You don't need to send it explicitly to both.

HERE ARE THE LIST GUIDELINES:
Remember to "unsubscribe" from WORDS before
changing your e-mail address.
If you stop getting WORDS mail suddenly,
it could be that your mail has bounced 8 times
and you were automatically "unsubscribed"....
Don't fret about it, just resubscribe.
If you're getting WORDS in digest mode and
it is getting cut-off, be sure your software is set up
to allow for messages of unlimited length.
NEVER send an "attached" file to the list address.
Please don't send e-mail that has been "formatted
or stylized". Many people have trouble reading this.
You should never get any error messages back
when you post a message to the group address.
If you do, forward the entire error message
to the list owner (joannerabun@comcast.net).
Never post off-topic or commercial messages
to the list.
Flame Wars will not be tolerated. Offenders will
be warned in a private message. If they choose to
continue posting offensive messages to the group,
they will be permanently "unsubscribed" from the list.
Messages of a personal nature should NEVER be sent
to the List address (WORDS-L@rootsweb.com)
WORDS is not a moderated mail list.
Messages are not scanned for appropriateness before
they are sent to the entire list of subscribers.
