This indenture, made and entered into this the 9th
day of June, 1908, between J. C. Parker and
Elizabeth Woodward, the mother of Will A. Woodward,
a bastard child, now about one year and seven months
old, all of said county, witnesseth; that the said
Elizabeth Woodward hereby binds and apprentices to
the said J. C. Parker the said Will A. Woodward,
until he is twenty one years old upon the following
conditions or terms; Said J. C. Parker agrees to
take him the said Will A.- into his custody; teach
him the business of husbandry, furnish him with
protection, wholesome food, suitable clothing,
necessary medicine and cause him to be taught the
elementary principles of mathematics and to read
English, and shall govern him with humanity, using
only the same degree of force to compel his
obedience as a father may use with his minor child,
and when said Will A.- shall arrive at the age of
twenty-one, he is to receive from the said J. C.
Parker One Hundred Dollars in cash. In consideration
of all of which said J. C. Parker is to be entitled
to the service and earnings of said Will A.- until
he is twenty-one years old.
