Indenture 1904 Mae Amerson & C. W. Womble
Georgia, Upson County.
This Indenture, executed this 11th day of January,
1904, between Venie Amerson, the mother of the minor
hereinafter named, of Upson County, party of the
first part, and C. W. Womble of said County, party
of the second part.
Witnesses, that whereas the said Venie Anderson is the Mother of one MAE AMERSON who was born on the 13th day of November, 1891 and is now twelve years old, and the said Venie has full legal authority and control over the minor child: and
Whereas, the said Venie Amerson is unable to support, provide for, maintain and care for the said Mae Amerson.
Now, therefore, the said Venie Amerson does hereby bind out and apprentice the said Mae Amerson to the said C. W. Womble from the date hereof until the said Mae Amerson shall have attained the age of twenty-one years; and the said Venie Amerson, hereby relinquishes irrevocably to the said C.W. Womble all parental authority and control over the said Mae Amerson, hereby granting to and entitling the said W. C. Womble to all the reasonable services and labor of the said Mae Amerson as if he were the natural parent of the child.
The said C. W. Womble hereby agrees to take said Mae Amerson immediately into his custody and control, and shall teach her habits of industry, honesty and morality, both by precept and example, and shall govern her with humanity, using the same degree of force to compel her obedience as a father may use with his own child; and the said C. W. Womble may at any time as he sees fit to do so, hire said Mae Amerson to any proper person or Company, in the same manner that he would his own child. Where she may he taught habits of industry, or labor or work of any proper kind suited for her sex.
The said C. W. Womble further agrees that hewill at all times during the continuance of this contract cloth, maintain and Protect and humanely treat the said Mae Amerson, and furnish her necessary medicines and medical attention.
In witness whereof, the said Venie Amerson and C. W. Womble have hereto set their hands, affixed their seals and executed this deed or contract of apprenticeship in duplicate, this January 11 th, 1904
