begins in 1902 with a detailed description of the
building of the once proud cotton mill.
The story touches the lives of many pioneer families
and their children who are now grandparents. I

connection to Milstead Village, as well as those who
have an interest in the history of those who have
gone before us.

It is 400 pages long and focuses mainly on Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church and the Pleasant Hill community
of northwest Rockdale County. There are
approximately 200
pictures and illustrations. Besides the history
of the church building and its affiliations with
other churches, explanations of articles of faith and
church government, the book contains membership
information on almost all of
the members who joined the church between its
constitution in 1873 and 2001, this includes
baptisms, transfers of membership, deaths, and
ordination dates if they were ministers or deacons.
There are listings of those who
held offices in the church such as clerk, chorister,
pianist, organist, Sunday school superintendents,
Sunday school secretaries, and all their assistants.
Each pastor from 1873 to 2001 has a biography roughly
one to two pages long and an accompanying photograph
of themselves and usually wives and children.
There is also a listing of all people buried in
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery and Sodom
Cemetery (the community cemetery used before the
church had its own). There is also information
and brief histories of organizations in the community
such as the Pleasant Hill School, literary society,
Odd Fellows, Farmer's Union, etc.
